JMM is the best lightweight but I think he will move up to light-welter, possibly to face Hatton. So the door is open for Funeka but Valero is a big hurdle. Looking forward to see how Kev Mitchell does on the world stage this year.

Funeka being the best LW is stretching it. I could even see Zorita defeating him.

There are current LW's better than him already mentioned in this thread. Top 10, yes.

If Funeka wants to make a legitimate claim at being the best at 135, he should fight the winner of the WBC title bout between Valero and Demarco. Without a title or a win over a top-flight lightweight, he doesn't have a very strong argument.

If JMM vacates then it's clearly Valero or the winner of Valero/Demarco and from there it's a distant 2nd as everyone has lost once or twice already. Hopefully JMM does the right thing and defends his title to unify the belts and give clarity to 135.

This is the best fight that can be made at lightweight
I dont think Marquez will fight as a lightweight again, i think its hatton in the summer and he will retire after that

you know, Guzman is better than Funeka. That's a tough style matchup for Guzman to handle. A pressure fighter would have more success against a guy like Funeka than someone who likes to play defense and then counter.

I scored the fight for Funeka but styles make fights.

    IMO Guzman > Funeka.

Guzman is better but it's hard to rank him AHEAD of Funeka since he should've lost that fight.

Talent wise Guzman is better than Funeka. It's just a little impossible to rank him above Ali Formega.

    No.

I don't believe that Funeka is better than a better prepared Guzman. Even though I thought Funeka won, that wasn't the real Guzman. He looked terrible in that fight and hadn't really fought in a while. His head movement, stamina, and mobility were gone that night and that's most of what he depends on to win.

  14. Man its still messed up how they robbed that man against guzman. I wanted to whip the judges asses for that.

nah man thats not true. It was just the style matchup. He looked the same as always other than the fact that he was losing the fight.

+ give credit to Funeka who brought some ability into that ring
