As of now, Shane Mosley is the man(won ring championship) and number one welterweight, but Floyd Mayweather is the man to beat ( undefeated and former lineal champion)

Manny Pacquiao isnt in the discussion.....he beat a washed up De La Hoya and a worn Cotto who already lost to Margarito and struggled with Cotto.

It's funny how people vote for Pac as "the man" yet will try to justify his team's willingness and insistance on fighting a championship bout under the maximum WW limit.

the best pound for pound but he just has two fights at welterweight. Shane Mosley is the current champion and Floyd Mayweather is the unretired former lineal champ.....they have all the claim. Pacquaio has only 2 fights one against a washed up guy who hasnt fought their in 8 years and Cotto who was maybe ranked 3rd.

You must have voted for manny pacquiao:patsch Mosley beat Margarito who beat Cotto. At the time Mosley was Ranked 2 and Margarito 1, Mosley beat him and became the man....simple logic. Also he beat former titlist Luis Collazo, undefeated Jose Luis Cruz, and David Estrade when he had one loss, and in his own right is a 2 time welterweight champion. Mosley is the man, Floyd Mayweather is number 2 and Manny is 3.

The only people who would debate this are diehard Pac fans.

He has only fought Cotto and Oscar at 147. That's it. [OOOOOOPS! He only fought Oscar at 147, and made Cotto come down to 145.]

Don't be in one thread talking about he's not a true welterweight so he is justified in contemplating ctachweight fights, and then come to another thread and say he's the man at 147.

    Why? Because you like him?

Here's why it doesn't stand up to reason. By that logic, Manny could fight at any weight regardless of what he accomplishes there and be called the best in his weight class. If Manny gained 80 pounds, would he be the best heavyweight just because? Or would he have to have the strongest accomplishments at that weight? Perhaps a less ridiculous example:

If Manny was gone and Floyd was consensus number one, and he decided to move to middleweight where Pavlik is the linear champ and a unified champion, could Floyd beat Felix Sturm and call himself the best in his division because he's considered p4p the best? No. Because logic doesn't work that way. Go find a Vulcan and have them explain logic to you.

    I do.

As of late, Mosely is superior to Cotto in power, speed, mental toughness, ring smarts, chin, and durability.

That's like saying you believe Haye is the man at HW because you believe he will beat the Klits.

It doesn't matter how good you think Pac is, until he beats the man, he isn't the man. Thats the way it works.
