Ok im a big Cotto fan no way would it have been as easy as some say. Till this day i still dont know why the fight didnt happen after Cotto beat Mosley and Mayweather beat Hatton. It would have been for the undisputed unified Welterweight championship.

Before Pac beat Oscar COTTO WAS the guy to beat at WW and Floyds biggest "threat". Two undefeated prime fighters. Floyd used at the moment the "PPV attraction" thing but i thought it would have done good numbers. But Floyd retired and Cotto went on with Margo fight and the rest is history.

Its probably a pointless fight right now but it was THE fight to make in 2008. Cotto would have given Mayweather hell.

if arum and mayweather couldnt put their ego aside to agree to the biggest fight in boxing history perhaps in mayweather and pacquaio then what chance did mayweather and cotto have?

i think a lot of people get over dramatic with cotto and make him out to be something he isnt. he would have been outclassed, he got shown up for not being at the top level by pacquaio

this is a 140 fighter coming up to 145 and he literially made cotto his ***** in that ring, so much so, cotto was running awar from pac near the end rounds

I think he could have won. He was a terrific pressure fighter when he chose to be but could revert to boxing any time he wanted. I think that combination, would be hard for Mayweather.

The fight could have been made when Mayweather was at 140, but his team said he wasn't ready, and they were right. I would have loved to see them fight. Mayweather would have won though no doubt about it.

at 147 is where it should have been made. 2008 was the right time. Smart money would have been Mayweather by UD but not a blowout like some have said. I just cant see it that way.

It would have looked a lot like Castillo-Mayweather 2, except that it probably would have been more one sided in that Mayweather is much cagier than he was back then and Cotto is actually shorter than Castillo, with a shorter reach so he'd have an even harder time getting to Mayweather.

Cotto COULD box, but he wouldn't have because he'd have felt that his best chance against Mayweather was to pressure him and break him down. Cotto only resorted to boxing when he realized that the guy he was likely stronger than him, and I don't think he'd have believed that about Mayweather. Plus, if he tried to outbox Mayweather he'd just get beaten worse.

That said, it would have been a good fight, would have cleared up a lot of things about the WW division, and I wish it had happened as well.

It's hard to say right, especially seeing him get beat up against Margo and Pac. I think perhaps 8-4 UD for Mayweather.

PreMargarito Cotto would have beaten Floyd.

Fight could have happened pre retirement but it didnt post retirement Cotto had already been beat and looked ugly vs Clottey. I'd love to see Floyd up at 154 against Williams Martinez Dzinziruk or even Foreman

Before Cotto lost to Margarito I think it would have been a great match up.
I think Cotto adapts well as a fighter and would have done well even if not winning. Cotto hasnt avoided anyone, look at the names hes fought at WW there Quintana (the only pro to hold a win over P Williams), Judah, Mosely, Clottey and only lost to Pacquiao and Margarito, but I wonder now if those 2 losses have now taken a big part out of Cotto. I hope not. A real warrior

You are going to get heat for that comment....:yep...Its always the other person's fault as to why those fights never took place...Never PBF's fault (according to them)...
