I thought Briggs was permately retired due to a neurological disorder that wasnt fully diagnosed but effected him in the ring.... Even though, awesome fight.. wish it happened 4 yrs ago though....
geez after the Van Asswagon fight or whatever his name is i assumed Paul was done.hope Briggsy makes some decent coin and doesnt get too badly flogged.
I really hope this isnt true. Paul Briggs is one of my favorite fighters and reading his book is a real inspiration. In his prime i pick Briggs to beat Green any day. But we must remember Briggs retired for a reason. A very real reason. I would hate to see this guy wound up getting seriously hurt and doing permanent damage to his health for a pay day. Hope either its just talk and the rumor isn't true or that something happens and the fight doesn't come off.
Briggsy's a gun. But it seems like opportunisim when he may not be 100% physically up for it. Wouldn't pay to see it if Briggs didn't have at least one warm up bout - it'd be suicide with Green running so hot at present and there'd be no guarantee of a decent contest, even though Briggs would give 100% on a bad day.
I dont like the sound of this...It was pretty widely reported about how Paul's body just wasnt responding anymore and when it gets to that stage its time to pack it in. Really would rather not see this.
I agree. It's not just a matter of Paul's better days being behind him, it's the health factor. One upside would be that at least Green would probably give him a career high pay day, and one where he wouldn't **** most of it away on accommodation, living fees, etc while training in the US. In his book he mentioned how he was left with very little after the first Adamek fight.
If there's one thing Briggsy is due it's a good fight pay-day. Just hope he's up to it, that's all. ...just image he fronted up in top nick and took Green out!
What he said. Anyway, they're mates, so I'm sure (I hope) Greeny sees this and applies common sense. Would hate to see Briggs get hurt.
