How would a second fight between these two have gone ? A lot was made of Curry's weight making difficulties, but I simply think that Honeyghan had his number, pure and simple. A second fight would have gone the same as the first.

Given Donald Curry's downward spiral from 1986 onward as well as his increasing diffiiculty at making the welter weight limit, I think he likely would have lost the rematch. In addition, as Stevie G already stated, Honeyghan may very well have possesed a style that Curry would have had trouble overcoming.

Honeyghan was a legit. good fighter. That win against Curry was not a fluke, but it was helped by Curry having weight problems and underestimating Honeyghan. I remember looking in the boxing magazines at the time and Honeyghan was taking care of business and he was no pushover-prior to the Curry fight. Donald would not have fought at 147 again, so if the fight happened it might be at 154, and there I am not sure Lloyd would be as effective. I still think Honeyghan beats Donald. Stylewise Lloyd was not a good match for Donald. Honeyghan vs. McCallum at 154 would have been interesting. Mike would have had a convincing win I think.

    Same here.

He was a fast and unpredictable attacker, which was perfect for foiling Curry's tightly methodical style.

People blamed the weight for the loss afterward, yet Curry still continued to show the same flaws that had cost him the fight even after moving up in weight.

Besides, Curry was always sucking down in weight. When he won, they credited it as his key to victory; and when he lost, they said it was what cost him the fight. Go figure. :conf

Its difficult to see it going any different to the first fight as Honeyghan was so dominant.

Honeyghan overpowers him once again. Curry was never the same after that beating.

Straight after the first fight id have said Curry would have come back and won a rematch. But having seen him go downhill in his next few fights i have to say it would be another win for Honeyghan, probably by Ko.

After the HBO broadcast there was some speculation that Curry had "something wrong with him", that "something was missing" in him as a fighter. Probably just down to the ridiculous expectations they had forced upon Curry on his way up and then the rather pitiful excuse-mongering they fostered after Lloyd saw to him, but it's notable, I think.

Funny cause years latter Honeyghan was offered a rematch at JR.middle for good money and guess what-he turned it down.Curry would knock out Honyghan if he was even at 70% peak-christ Honeyghan made Mark Breland look like Hearns.

You don't seriously think Honeyghan was afraid of fighting Curry again do you?.

I agree. Curry was terrible in this fight and i always give Loyd props for fighting a fine fine fight and being underrated going in.
