trinidad hurt mayorga to the body but how many top flight opponents did either fighter hurt to the body that really made a diffrrence?
Trinidad ravaged Reid to the body and head (and below the belt). Reid tried to catch a lot of them with his elbows, but he couldn't catch all of them. He mixed in body shots well against Carr if I remember correctly. It made no difference against Hopkins, Hopkins was just too good for Tito, but even he remarked later on that his ribs were sore from taking Tito's bodyshots. Tito stopped or dropped other guys at 147 like Barnes, Pineda, and Pendelton. They weren't "top flight", but like I said earlier, most of his opposition at 147 wasn't very impressive.
I'm bumping some of these old threads to show us how we thought then vs now. This is from before the Mosley/Margarito fight. The poll has it thus far. Mosley 14 Oscar 24 Tito 8 Oscar was favored on ESB before the Marg fight. Now let's see what happens in the poll when people think its a recent thread and vote according to the taste today. :yep
Overall, Oscar is a more skilled boxer than both, and legacy-wise I think he also gets the nod over both when you compare resumes and all-time great significance.
Ive always been perplexed by how DLH's career from 130-140 is kind of just dismissed when talking about his career. Idk how many all time fighters I would favor over DLH at 140 (since the division was created). Probably only a handful.
I think that they all have their own specific strengths and weaknesses, that i was lucky to see all of them fight in their prime for the most part.... and i pretty much have them all the same as of right now, im not going to split hairs and dissect why this guy is better then that guy, well but this guy has a better resume, well this guy beat that guy head to head and lost to this guy, no.... to me, they are on the same level, but its up to Mosley from here on out to change that, and its a testament to him that he is still around, an elite fighter, in big fights..... I have a feeling he might be the one that ends out on top of all this.
I went with Mosley, simply because he was truly a force for any and every guy he faced in his prime. Technically he is sound, with a strong chin and good power. Not to mention that...He aint done yet!!!
I never include `market value` or whatever **** anyway.... Its close between all 3 but if pushed Id have to say..... Mosely DLH Tito Mosely won the h2h at their very peaks vs DLH (DLH was robbed in fight 2 tho).... DLH did likewise vs Tito... Mosely never fought Tito but started at LW where as Tito started 2 weight above at WW so the p4p thing swings it SSMs way + Winky won 12 rds to 0 vs Tito, he never managed that in 2 attempts vs Mosely. I go Mosely but its close.
I agree with this. DLH beat Tito and shane (rematch) IMHO. But didn't get the decision on paper....in the ring he did enough to win....but DLH had some "gifts" as well....one would be the strum fight. Whitaker and Quartey were close, but I felt DLH won by a hair.
