There was an interview this morning on a french Montreal radio with Jean Bédard, Interbox boss and Bute's promoter. It could end like this, even if things change fast in boxing): Miranda on April the 17th, the winner of Brinkley-Stevens in Romania next summer and Pavlik at the end of 2010. It would be a decent year, considering the super 6.
I think it would be a very good year considering the Super 6. ****jin aye to the Bute-Brinkley-Stevens fight in Romania.Haven't seen Lucian fight live in years.:yep But still-why no announcement about the april fight. The clock is ticking. I heard he could fight the Brinkely-Stevens winner in april anyway. We''ll see.
Bédard said it's not easy to make a deal because the opponents ask big money. Is that the problem with Miranda? I also heard HBO won't say yes for the April fight until Pavlik-Martinez is signed. Bédard also said there was a possibility for April the 16th. I think that if Pavlik-Martinez works, that will be Miranda-Bute the 17th. If not, that could also be Bute-Miranda, but the 16th of April.
That would be a good year indeed. You guys in Romania deserve to get a share of Bute's fights. I'm not worried about the fight not being offcially announced. Miranda has just been added to the IBF rankings in January, and he has no equivalent options.
Bedard said Bute's next fight should be set before the end of next week. My guess is if its not Miranda it won't be on HBO. If he fights the winner of Brinkley-Stevens it will be on the 16th instead. Bute could fight Larsen in July if he wins against Magee. We'll see.
:thinknot bad! i didn't mind to spend this for my first boxing card!!! i spend much more then this on ppv!
Miranda was dropped by the IBF when he was scheduled to fight for the WBO belt. Since that fell through, the IBF put him back on their rankings. I have not heard anything this week about progress with Miranda and Bute for April 17th. On the other hand, Miranda is probably going to start working on another date with Stieglitz. He is willing and able with Bute, but will jump on a Stieglitz opportunity if that is put in front of him first. I am not sure what Interbox or HBO is waiting on, but my sources say Miranda has other things in the works...
According to Rudel Obreja the president of Romanian Boxing Federation Bute next opponent can be Jesse Brinkley; and there are talks with the WBO champ Robert Stieglitz and a WBA boxer probably Dimitri Sartison. Didn't mentioned Edison Miranda .
