If Stevens somehow regains any momentum this could be a FOTY candidate.

Or we could have a highlight reel KO for Brinkley in round 7. Let's see! :p

This is the exact reason the jab is so important.
The jab gave brinkley the chance.

Stevens needs to sell out and force his attack. He need not bother to box.

    Round 7

Stevens wearing cobwebs on his sleeve. Pushes Brinkley into a corner and ties up. Brinkley trying to set up another right hand with his jab. Stevens ducking beneath that punch with his hands over his head. A hook grazes Brinkley's chin as he backs up. Strange combination from Brinkley (jab, hook, double uppercut) lands. Sweeping right hand catches the side of Stevens' head as he slides along the ropes. Stevens clinches again. Stevens not making any effort to engage, staying on the outside and retreating with a jab.

    68-64 Brinkley.

Dont forget the Spina fight where he lost late, has Stevens thrown any body shots in this fight?

Stevens was landing and they looked hard in the 8th, still another 4 rounds left!

Btw why is this a 12 rounder?

    Round 8

HUGE bomb lands on Brinkley's chin. He flurries right back and wobbles Stevens. These guys both take a hit pretty well. They jab and land simultaneously, forced apart like oppositely polarized magnets. Stevens is basically throwing single punches and then grabbing, probably smart.

That was certainly Stevens' best round since the 2nd. He seemed to have done enough.

    77-74 Brinkley

Winner challenges Bute (#2 contender spot).

Bute will KO either in a terrible mismatch either way. :yep
