Skelton was stopped in the 4th round in germany by Pulev who had a record of 4 wins 0 losses, surely this must be the end for him now?
It has to be the end, but Pulev is a badass. He had a good amatuer career with wins over Solis and Timuriev, and he is on fire as a pro.
Even if Pulev turns out to have a great pro career though, this is yet another loss that Matt didn't need to take and hopefully he'll finally see the light in calling it a day. Man's got to earn money, but since the Rogan loss he's not been the same guy.
It`s a shame, Skelton is limited but he did better in his career then allot of people thought he would. He can retire proud that he won a Lonsdale belt and was European champion.
Very true. Plus he was a fighters fighter, may not have been overly skilled or pretty to watch but he always came to fight. And as you say for a guy with no amatuer experience and coming to the sweet science at such a late age, he acheived more than a former amatuer gold medalist in Harrison. Plus i would say he achieved more than even Williams.
I think it is nearing the end, but not because of this result. The kid is obviously a bit special. Get Matt in with Fury, let's see what Tyson's made of.
I'm sorry for Skelton, because he is a very good boxer, with big achievments, but maybe now it is time for him to retire.
For a limited fighter he sure acomplished a hell of a lot more than people (including me) thought he would, but even if Pulev is supposed to be quality i still dont think a fighter of Skeltons accomplishments should get sparked by a 4-0 novice I would like to see him retire now, good fighter, never a trash talker or a **** end and a genuinly nice bloke
I've seen Pulev on a few occasions live.. He was decent.. I seen Timurviez destroy him like and Pricey has also beat him at a multi nations!! Pulev can't fight going backwards but is as strong as bull going forwards!! If you bring skill into this equation then Pricey is an awful lot better than Pulev!!:good
Cheers for that Tony, kind of further makes a mockery of Maloneys match making when Davids fighting polish doormen and Purlev just beat the former European champion in his fourth fight.
Just watched the fight. Matt took the first two rounds, boxed well but Pulev opened up in the 3rd and landed more shots. 4th was kinda quiet and then Pulev had SKelton against the ropes and landed what was basically a hard jab to the body. Skelton went down for the count but got up soon afterwards.
