I want to see him fight at 205. He is 215-220 out of muscle. He is 6'1. I think he could cut a few pounds of muscle and it would help. Strikeforce 205 division needs more fighter.

Dont think we'll see Herschel again. I think the fight was only a one off for him. Soon as he gets put in with a live body anyway he'll get his head torn off.

Gil Brandt, the old Cowboys head of college scouting said that Herschel was the only guy he ever saw who was physically ready to jump from high school to the NFL.

Well, he's the greatest collegiate player ever.

He went into the NFL after a few years playing in the USFL (a challenger league that played in the NFL offseason). He injured his left shoulder in college (tore all the ligaments) and wasn't the same player in the Pro's, but he was a very good player who did a little bit of everything. While he played football, he also

became a 6th degree black belt in tae kwon do.
Almost made the 1984 Olympic track team (ran a 10.22 100 meters).
Competed in the 92' Winter Olympics on the US Bobsled team

Basically, he's a guy who likes a challenge and this was the most interesting one out there.

    **** he done it all..

Greatest college player ever??Thats a pretty big deal in the U.S aint it??

So would he be fairly financially secure??

Im just thinking fighting at 47 smells like the need for money and luckily he has a name to get some.

He donated his salary for the fight which was 6 figures to charity. Walker isnt short of a bob or two. He's just a guy with an incredible amount of drive and ambition.

He owns his own food company that's quite successful. Money is not an issue. He just wanted to take on the challenge. He's said that if MMA had existed when he was in college (early 1980's) he would've skipped a pro football career and gone into MMA instead.

We you have answered my questions right there.Thanks..

He does seem like a nice modest dude when interviewed in regards to his pro debut..

Good on him for giving his purse to charity but as a huge MMA fan im kind of pissed that people like Walker can come in and get 6figure purses when the top line fighter struggle to even get that..

Not hating on him personally, just the powers that be for doing so.

The mainstream attention for a card where Nick Diaz was headlining was strong and that was because of Walker. That's why he's worth the money. Strikeforce needs to get viewers even when Fedor isn't fighting. That's why guys like Ken Shamrock can still get fights - name recognition is worth fan recognition (and media recognition).

    [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herschel_Walker[/ame]

"Walker is also intriguing for being one of the few pro football players to become successful without the use of free weight training. Rather than a heavy weight room regimen, Walker used bodyweight exercise, calisthenics, and conditioning, as well as martial arts training. He remains to this day an oddity in the pro football world. He has been said to do thousands of pushups and situps daily, rather than lift weights, while maintaining 2% body fat.[citation needed] For the past twenty years, he claims to sleep four hours a night and only eat one meal a day during the evening, which normally consists of a salad, soup and bread."

    wha?

    "Height 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m)
    Weight 220 lb (100 kg; 16 st)
    Division 225
    Reach 74.0 in (188 cm)
Style Kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, Bobsled
    Stance Orthodox
    Team American Kickboxing Academy
    Years active 2009–present"

    :lol::thumbsup

I cant seem to find any info on his Taekwondo career. At first I was a bit critical that he was 6th degree and currently fighting in something (most elite competitors are 1st-4th) but then I realized that he is so old it is actually befitting. But still, I don't know if he was competitive or not/where/what he learned etc...

Hershel is a inspiration I bet to soooo many people now just to say hey you can do whatever you want regardless of your age. Take care of your body and surround yourself with good people for the task at hand. Just look at the body holy **** that guy barley has a oz of fat. 4 hours of sleep a day ? You can tell Hershel Walker isnt one of those guys who just hangs around the house alot or does nothing. Hershel has that mindset you can sleep when you die. I like him hes old school but I dont wanna see him agian.
