Pretty good matchhup :yep Id say the fight i competetive throughout the early and mid rounds with Both stunning or hurting eachother . Minter goes into the ninth slightly ahead on the cards. In the 10th catches a big right from Pavlik that rips his his cuts moe open Pavlik tko 10 Minter
minters skin is the key here if it holds out then i think he wins a ud if minter was ahead by the tenth then he would take the decision he had very good stamina and always finished well minter ud
If Minter's skin could have held out, he would have been way too strong for Kelly..a decision with a knockdown along the way would have been the result, IMO.
Pavliks massive height/reach advantage, strength, workrate see him win a decision imo despite Minter having the better skills
Pavlik has always been the stronger man at and backed up strong big MWs like Miranda and Taylor, I dont think Minter looks particularly strong I think Pavlik actually has a 6inch height advantage here too
Minter was about six foot roughly. He also had very nice lateral movement and should win this comfortably, quite possibly via KO if he gets Pavlik in the same situation as Taylor did.Wouldn't be surprised if he made things a bit tougher than they needed to be,but he's the better standup boxer-puncher by far imo. He'd turn Pavlik throughout and dictate most of the exchanges.
I thought he looked taller, boxrec has him at 5'9. Minter isnt as explosive or as fast as Taylor though. He has better boxing sense and movement certainly though
Definitely taller than that.Compare him to someone like Hagler, if he was five nine, Hagler must have been a dwarf.I'd say about five eleven\six foot is about right.
Minter's speed and countering ability would give Pavlik trouble, but his leaky defence and susceptiblity to being dragged into an exchange get him knocked out down the stretch. TS made the right call. I don't think Minter is the kind of mover people seem to think he is - certainly not the kind of crafty range control that Hopkins brought to the table, which is what everybody bases their Pavlik damnation on nowadays - but instead a relatively straight-up fighter with educated timing and quickness. I think Pavlik/Martinez would say a lot more about this match-up.
Based on what? The way Hagler left him looking like he'd just ran his head through a meat mincer, or how a slappy Antuofermo had him backing up? If Minter wins this (which I doubt) it won't be through imposing his strength on the manifestly bigger and more durable fighter.
I don't know about that. Minter doesn't look any more than an inch taller than Hagler (5' 8") here, accounting for Hagler's bobbing stance and bald head. Maybe two at a stretch. He's much the smaller man in this match-up, which is definitely a disadvantage given his style. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z184W81eVo0[/ame]
If you watch what Minter does with his left hand everytime he throws the right, you can only arrive at one conclusion: Pavlik by BRUTAL ass whoopin' inside 3 rounds.
