I don't want to see him fight at any weight. Good for him and everything, but I have absolutely no desire to watch celebrities act out their fantasy camp experiences in the place of entertaining and skilled fighters.
How was his performance? I was unable to watch the show. Did he seem competent? Was his opponent a tomato can?
he got out of that heel hook fast as hell, but he look very stiff in his kicks and punches which could be the age. His awareness of what position he was in was impressive, theres world class fighters who if caught in that same heel hook would have panicked.
Herschel Walker indirectly allows entertaining and skilled fighters prosper. The media attention he brings has people watching the bill which shows off numerous good fighters. Plus Walker performed as good as anyone has on their debut. He showed a good game. I don't know how serious he is but so far he has looked very serious. Donating his purse to charity is a good thing for the sport too.
He does do all of that, even if it just proves how strange most peoples taste is, but I have no more interest in watching him start his MMA career at 47 then I do watching Micheal Jordan try to play baseball or watching a celebrity golf tournament.

I am the same age as Walker and have been a fan of his for 20+ years. make no mistake about it, this man is indeed a special breed. He's not Michael Westbrook or Johnny Morton. Or like any other cross over athlete we have seen. He is arguably one of the finest athletes that America has produced. He may or may not ever compete again but based on athleticism, his record of personal achievement and his phenomenal conditioning, with a solid year of serious training, he could be very competitive at the fringe of the top 20 or so. We all know he would have simply outlasted just about every HW on TUF this past season. Not that it is much of an achievement. I hope he fights again.
