One of the best lines I ever heard was Maxim when they told him Robinson lost because of the heat " do they think my corner was air-conditioned"

I think Joey gets lets credit than he deserves for this one. His bodywork is good, he keeps Robinson on the move and he's rough, draining, in the clinches. Good performance from Joey, the right way to fight.

As for Robinson, what a perfomance, outstanding. That lead right to the body was perfect throughout as was the uppercut inside. Jab to the body, what a great body puncher. Very very good fight.

Haven't had the chance to watch yet, but was kind of surprised when I saw the tale od the tape and it had Robinson at only 157 1/2. I would've thought he'd try to carry a little more weight.

    Whatta GREAT MEMORY! TGA.

Was ringside with my dad that night. Wasn't a breath of air, like being smothered in a closet. Humidity so high, we were soaked to the skin before we got to our seats. After a few rounds, guys around us lookin' like they were gonna pass out. Coulda fried an egg in the ring.

My heart was broken to see Sugar -- my idol -- wilt. It was INCONCEIVABLE.

I believe he weighed below the welterweight limit immediately after the fight.

You could see the energy being drained from him round by round.

Thanks for this.... I own the fight but some rds are missing & the quality isnt that great, I just watched the entire fight, great stuff.

Ps. I always felt Ray should have rematched Maxim (in winter:D)... judging by that fight, I think he`d still be a favourite to win, he kept throwing punches when he was tired, he should have fought defensively even giving away the last few rds.

:deal..Amen..my biggest complaint about modern day boxing!! The championship rounds will always be 13 thru 15.

I always admired Maxim for the way he fought in this fight...McGrain is right..even in losing rounds, he fought the right kind of fight..it turns out,..he fought correctly and contributed some, anyway to SRR's strength being sapped.
