ET comms on submarines = IT on surface ships... it's pretty similar, except submarines are 10 times harder.
You can volunteer for subs and probably get in. I don't recommend it though.

    Yeah, how old are you?
If you would have tried to join in 08 it would have been easy.

    Not sure if I can.

I have yet to actually represent my case to them. I've been trying to work vaguely around it.

But I haven't actually come forward with a felony charge. (Which I know if they didn't have so many people joining, they would easily grant me if they just read my case and understood what happened.)

    22.

Yea. I've been trying since March 09.

I'll try if I don't get my **** to where I want it to be in a few years but we'll see.

I might even attempt to just go to a different recruiter and just tell them everything and have them send it to a lawyer it goes to.

You getting in is all based on how good your recruiter is. A good recruiter knows every loophole and every program.

Well it doesn't matter the recruiter because I was also charged with a misdemeanor hate crime that was UNCONDITIONALLY DROPPED because it wasn't ****ing true at all.

But the navy looks at CHARGES. I was never ever convicted.

    FML.

Well, you're in rough shape, but there are some things you can keep quiet. If you were never convicted, I wouldn't even have said anything.
The military uses a lot of scare tactics, but they can only look so far. Do you live in a navy city?

I live close to SD but I'm in OC right now.

The FBI does a background check and they see juvi records. :|

it's not quite that thorough until you get into the higher security clearances. I required a full background check because I have a TS/SCI clearance, which is as high as it gets.
I don't think ITs need them, but if you are on the Radio side you might.
We do deal with all the crypto.

There's a standard FBI check before/during boot camp.

They go deeper when you take jobs with Crypto.

    Etc.

I'll have a talk with another recruiter probably this month.

I went to school with a lot of ITs off of surface ships.
They have the LAN side guys and the RADIO side guys.
Make sure you talk to an E-5 in the rate you want before you go into any job.
You have to know what they do at the E-5 level, don't talk to guys on shore duty or recruiters for what job is good.
If you're into tech/computers/LAN stuff, definitely go IT.
