When I first heard that this fight had been given the kiss of life after Jones recent defeat to Green, I immediately thought, what the hell is the point of this? Hopkins is gonna kill him.

However, having thought about it bit more, Im starting to change my mind a bit. Jones boxed OKAY against Calzaghe up until the cut, and Hopkins won't rush him in the corner like Green or rush him in general like Calzaghe, so there is still enough for there for Roy to use the best of what he has left, in a fight that will probably suit him the best of anyone out there, at least in terms of a top marquee opponent.

Hopkins will give him time to think, give him time to rev up the engine and get into the fight, and in a tactical fight Roy is still a pretty darn good fighter.

So, anyone else think Roy can pull it off?

short answer is yes. unlikely but yes. jones turned his head into the punch of a strong guy at cw. so long as hopkins doesnt knock him out and as long as jones stays on his feet he can still box.

Lol even this is doubtful. If B-Hop hits him as hard as he did Pavlik, Jones is going down.

And Hopkins has only looked good recently against guys who come towards him and are a bit one dimensional, especially dopey Pavlik.

Go back to his last tactical affair against top level fighter and it's JT time.

P.S - Forget about Tarver. Umm :think

His reflexes are gone, so he will get caught. Hopkins tags him hard enough.. guess what happens? Say he takes it, he is still fast. He took some good shots from Lacy and while BHOP is lightyears ahead of Lacy, he might not punch as hard. There is a slight possibility. He will get caught. It's all about how he reacts when it happens.

I think he's going to get knocked out again, to be honest.

Ah ****, do we really need to see RJJ getting KTFO again!

    A very sad sight.

I think theres a very real possibility that Jones could win this. Hopkins is a great fighter who still seems at the top of his game but most of Hopkins big name wins are against smaller fighters, except for Tarver who had already been outboxed and beaten before most of the top good fighters Hopkins has fought who were his own size, have beaten him ie Jones, Taylor twice and Calzaghe, also except for Tarver, Hopkins hasnt fought any other world class LHWs. The last time Hopkins scored a KO was over the much smaller De La Hoya.
Im going to take a guess against the odds and say Jones by close UD.

Hopkins definitely punches harder than Lacy at this stage, Lacy has no pop in his punches anymore.

Jones would basically have to catch him early, almost exactly the way Green did to him. Then he could win. Otherwise, no.
