Was wondering if there was anything out there in film of what sounds like a great fight. Side Note: Is there complete footage of Tiger/Torres II and Lausse/Fullmer? Thanks guys.

I believe it does exist as Prism (closed circuit) would have covered it.

Lausse / Fullmer I have but is silent (have to check if complete). I watched Fullmer v Greaves today. BRUTAL.

I saw it live underneath the Duran-Viruet title fight. They beat the crap out of each other and is in many ways, one of Saad's best fights and greatest vic.s.

I have read that Saad was the beneficiary of a quick stoppage in this one as Douglas wasn`t in any real distress when the bout was stopped, can you confirm this at all? And I find it mighty strange that footage of this fight hasn`t yet surfaced seeing how it was the undercard bout of the Viruet/Duran title bout, in all my years of searching for this fight I have always come up empty handed unfortunately.

Hey RB i read this on another forum:

"Nicolino Locche-Adolph Pruitt (this 1970 WBA title fight is the rarest bout on this list, but I know that a film of this fight exists because I once watched a beta tape of it in the office late trainer Bill Slatyon a few years ago ... Locche was a defensive master who had no punch; Pruitt was a ghetto warrior from St. Louis who was brought L.A. by the great Henry Armstong ... Pruitt was no Armstrong, but he was close ... for 15 rounds, he cornered Locche and worked him over like a mad man while the Argentine slipped, ducked and countered as though his life depended on it ... take the first round of Ward-Burton and multiply it by 15 and you get the idea of how this fight went ... Locche won a close decision in Buenos Aires"

I just want to ask you if you ever came across this fight?and if theres other full fights of Locche other than the Fuji and Cervantes II?

They beat the crap out of each other. Dynamite knocked Saad down and he was given a pretty slow count, but he got up and beat the crap out of Douglas. The beating was so 2 way horrific that at the end of the rounds noone was sure who would be the winner. But Saad's hand was raised and a legend began. Saad/Franklin then, was something else in his Spectrum, Philly days. Much tougher and willful than after 1980 when he started breaking down. If Braxton had met the Saad of 77-80, Muhammad knocks him out and changes history. I'd take this Saad over Spinks too. BTW, watch the Spinks-Lopez or Spinks-Taylor fight, I can't remember which one, I have it at home and the first person into the ring to congratulate him is his sparring partner Dwight Braxton wearing a New York cabbies hat. They really were good friends years before their fights.:thumbsup

Douglas was a very good underrated fighter, though the beating Bennett gave him was savage.Bennett is another really underated guy from taht era though he was only very good for a brief period, before his legs and punch resistance seemed to completely go.

    Bladerunner,

I am sorry to say I haven`t come accross that or any other Locche fight in full besides the two you mentioned, and this even after I contacted studio sources in Argentina to see if I could grease some palms to see if I could acquire some complete fights of his. I do not doubt for a second however that that fight among several other Locche bouts do exist in full somewhere, if the final rounds exist of all those Locche bouts then it is highly likely that the original complete broadcasts exist as well.

Thanks a bunch for that Morlocks, much appreciated. I am still mystified as to how come this fight hasn`t surfaced considering it was shown on live tv and that it was the undercard fight to the Duran/Viruet title fight, any ideas as to why by any chance?
