How good is this guy? Is he regarded just as highly as Gamboa/Lara/Solis/Rigondeaux as far as prospects go? The reason Im asking is because he is fighting one of my friends this friday and I was curious as how much of a shot my boy had. My boys name is Dorian Beupierre. he had a few wars with Daniel Edouard that ended up in draws and a loss to pavlik a few years back
Jhonson isn't on the same level as the Cuban prospects you mentioned above, but he's in the second tier. Smart fighter, pro-friendly style, throws lots of combos, but no attribute has jumped out to me as being off the charts with him.
He was the 2004 Olympic Silver medalist at Light Welterweight and a good fighter, as far as your boy having a shot against him I'd say it's not very likely. Heres his boxrec. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=494042&cat=boxer
Ill be there fri so that will be the first time I will get to see Johnson fight. I look forward to it though
we shall see. he hasnt fought consistently in a while. ill be there wishing the best for him. going to be a great card regardless. Glenn Johnson vs Yusef Mack, Rigondeaux, and Johnson.
He is going to eat punches the whole night, an he can be happy if he will connect 1 for the 5 other he is going to receive, as Johnson is not only very effective offensively, but has a great defence as well . To be honest this will be a bad night for him. He will be frustrated For me, physically he looks like Trinidad, but your friend is lucky enough that Johnson has not a devastating KO power, altought a better ring generalship ...
dudes garbage tbh, his last fight was a borefest. He's simply a class below the other Cuban defectees....he also needs to keep in better shape
Jhonson ( spelled like that ) is not as good as Gamboa/Rigondeaux but he is a very technical boxer with great amateur experience, is a southpaw and is very tall at 5'10. He is Olympic Silver Medalist ( something that is very hard to achieve ) and has average power. I have seen him in the pros and he definitely has talent, amateur experience and skills to make it far, just as far as Lara can go... If your friend does'nt have a solid amateur background ( at the World level ) then pretty much he does'nt have a chance, except a lucky punch! Jhonson is quite good and for what it seems all the Cubans fans are underrating him all the time, mainly due to the great Cuban talent that we have now but Jhonson is not an easy cooky to deal with. He is fast, slick, has great defence, throws many combos and can also TKO/KO anyone. I see him going very far in the pros, I don't know how dedicated he is or who is training him and that's a major factor... Here is one of his fights!!! Enjoy Cuban boxing... PS, I agree, he looks a lot like Trinidad ( in the face )... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-vRJx10EBA[/ame]
Amateur? The Cuban " amateurs " are causing quite an impact my friend, the Cuban " amateurs " will carry boxing from now on...:hey
looks pretty good here, similar style to Rigo....far too one-handed (same goes for Rigo)....don't quite know what fight it was that I saw him in but he looked terribly average in a UD
my boy is pretty developed and has had expereince fighting some decent names. so this will be interesting. being that its only yudel's fifth fight i think it will be interesting
im not going on record im just goin on experience. granted experience doesnt win you a fight hands down but my boy has been in there (at the pro level) a little bit longer. so we will see if that cagey veteran mentality will help
