After watching the Reid and Calzaghe fight i couldnt help but think it must have been hard on both of them in there. Calzaghe taking right after right in the mid to late rounds and Reid looking troubled by Calzaghes hand speed from the start!
    Was Reid calzaghes toughest opponent?

Reid gave him a tough fight but the answer is Eubank or Hopkins.

The fight merited a rematch, its a shame it never happened. Eubank was practically a spent force against Joe, a late opponent with an injury in the fight, still though no one expected Eubankto get floored in the first!

Tocker Podwill was probably his toughest opponent, or maybe Peter Manfredo. HAHA

Oh yeah Reid fought a great fight that night and a draw should have been the outcome with a rematch to follow.

Reid won the WBC title, he also BEAT Ottke and should have been WBA and IBF. Close call against Calzaghe, he could have been WBO too.

Physically I think Eubank was the toughest. Although Eubank was fading and underprepared for this fight people forget that Calzaghe was a complete novice at this point. None of his previous opponents were even remotely world class and so this was quite the baptisim of fire.
Hopkins was the closest. I thought Joe edged it but it could've gone the other way quite easily.
As for Reid. Good hard competitive fight and although close I've never really got the contraversy over the result. I thought Joe won by a couple of rounds.

Good fight. Reid gave Calzaghe a hard nights work although I thought Calzaghe was a clear winner, Reid seemed to give away the first 4 rounds, which is when Calzaghe broke his hand. I think I had (Its going back a few years) with the point deduction, Calzaghe about 3-4 points up. I remember in the 12th round Calzaghe outboxed Reid clearly to me and Glen McCrory scored it to Reid, if anyone watches that 12th round please let me know what you thought about that round.
Reid definately landed the harder shots but i felt he was outworked and outspeeded alot of the time. Id say it was probably Calzaghes hardest fight.
Reid was a strange charactor, he didnt seem to do much when giving up his title to Malinga then put up a great show against Calzaghe, then didnt seem to do much when losing to Branco. Reid was a good fighter that I always felt could have gone so much further

Calzaghe was injured, had no sparring and his timing was completly off during the fight, that's why it was close. I fit Joe would have eaten Reid alive.

joes toughest fights were hopkins, eubank, omar sheika, charles brewer and byron mitchell. the last 3 i named werent big names but at the time, they were real title contenders... especially sheika!!! :silly

...but if i had to choose one... it would be hopkins! Just because it was such a mentally demanding fight for him!!

i would also just like to add an off-topic comment!!...

...i would just like to say that i am glad Amir Khan has left frank warren promotions for goldenboy!! i feared he would go the same way as calzaghe and be over protected for the best part of his career
