Lets not forget about - Lucian Bute vs. Edison Miranda (middleweight title) Antonio DeMarco vs. Edwin Valero (lightweight title) Michael Katsidis vs. Robert Guerrero (lightweight title) Marcos Maidana vs. Victor Cayo (llght welterweight title) Plus, Paul Williams, Sergio Martinez, and Kelly Pavlik fights are pending. :bbb
I think the Jones/Hopkins fight is a bit of a joke to be honest. Nothing to get excited about. Two ring legends but at this stage a Tyson/Lewis match up would be as significant. The Haye/Klit fight will be a one sided anti climax also (if it happens that is) It is going to be a fantastic year. If Williams gets Pavlik or a rematch against Martinez if would be the icing on the cake. Juanma v Gamboa is a mouthwatering prospect too but that won't happen this year. Should be some interesting prospects coming into fruition also. Golovkin, Korobov, Saul Alvarez, Lemieux.
you have the cotto v. foreman fight too...also something should happen with juanma, gamboa, and chris john!!!!
Andre Dirrell vs Arthur Abraham should have never been delayed. Floyd Mayeweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao should of happened on March 13. Berto vs Mosley would of been over with. That's 3 ****ing fights down the toilet. No boxing is starting off even worse then 2009. Sure Mikkel Kessler vs. Carl Froch is exciting but that's on April, boxing fans shouldn't wait until March or April to see a good fight. Who gives a **** about Bernard Hopkins vs Roy Jones Jr or Devon Alexander vs. Juan Urango, those are not high profile fights. Back then in the 90's and before, boxing matches were never delayed or canceled as much as it is now. This is what's killing boxing, too many boxing matches are delayed, canceled, or take forever to happen.
delays and cancellations dont help, but if the fights are eventually made, such as mayweather-pacquiao, no one will give a crap that it didnt happen sooner, not unless it doesnt happen for another 6 years or another 16 years. just consider the main-stream popularity and record-breaking numbers for mayweather-pacquio if it indeed does happen later this year, and I think it will. now, not only do we have pacquiao-clottey for a tune-up, but mayweather-mosley is the 2nd best fight that can be made. with the winners facing each other, we're looking at three huge fights this year. with all the attention on the sport, its a good time for other exciting fighters to reveal themselves as well. i see good things
first of all B-Hop vs RJJ is a high profile fights they are 2 all time greats and Devon Alexander vs Juan Urango might not be high profile but the WBC and IBF light welterweights are on the line and they are pretty exciting fighters which will make for a exciting fight which I think the fans who are watching it will be happy
