Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Sandy Saddler at 130

Floyd isn't stopping Saddler so bar him staying away the entire fight he's going to experence Hell.

With a fairly Strict ref the distance may be broken fairly fast, allowing Floyd to stay away.

I don't feel qualified to make a pick, as bar bits of one of the Pep fights, I haven't seen much of Saddler so am not sure how he does when forced to box fairly conservatively at mid-range and how he'd get his shots off, so someone elses input here would be much appreciated.

I just don't know enough of Saddlers style other than how dirty and ugly he appears to be. From what I hear that's how he always was, and if the ref is fairly lenient I imagine he'd outwork Floyd over 12.

Joe Cortez refs and doesn't allow Saddler to get within 5 feet of Floyd, taking away Saddlers best asset in his inside work.

Officiating will have a big impact on how this fight will be fought. If it's Joe Cortez or Jay Nady in there, Saddler has little chance of winning. If it's the 1940's/1950's, Saddler will spoil Mayweather's boxing all day.

 

Saddler would be too tough, rough, too mentally strong, and savvy for Mayweather.

I see Sandy hurting him, roughing Floyd up, taking away his confidence and stopping him around the 8th.

Floyd has never had to deal with the kinda of pressure and adversity Sandy would create for him and he would break down mentally as a result.

 

Wouldn't happen that fast.

 

Mayweather Wide UD, bigger, faster and as good as Pep who went 50-50 past his prime with Saddler. Saddler had advantages of strength, height and reach over Pep that he wouldnt have over Mayweather. Saddlers defense was pretty poor and I see him being picked apart pretty easily and hit very clean and crisp, very often. Mayweather power would have much more of an effect on him at 130 than Peps did at 126 also.

Mayweather by Wide Decision and given how clean and crisp Saddler would get hit time and again I wouldnt rule out a stoppage even though Saddler was amazingly durable

I'd say this, because of the refereeing. A ref now would never let Saddler do what he wanted. Mayweather would either beat him on the cards or via disqualification. Back then, Mayweather would probably get mauled like a baby Cheetah with a Lion.

 

...So how should I vote?

 

If we transported Saddler to modern days he won't stand a chance without his dirty tricks. Floyd UD.

 

Floyd would never have amde 130 with a same day weigh in. If he did make it Saddler would have crushed him.

Saddler had the right style to beat tricky boxers and was a devestating puncher.

Floyd is an all-time great but the issue for me is the weight the fight was set at.

 

yes Sadler won the series but the fights Pep lost he was outboxing Saddler for long periods, not to mention Saddler made sure Pep had an injured nut sack
