    At 154?

    Top ten? How about H2H?

    Thoughts on Vasquez in general.

Despite what some people here are saying, Vasquez was actually a decent fighter in his heyday with a commendable run of title defenses. Still, his landmark loss to Whitaker in his biggest career fight precludes him from a spot in the top 10 at that weight, much the same way Virgil Hill's loss to Hearns prevents him from being rated among the great LHWs.

It's pretty sad that Vasquez is still fighting and getting KO'd in 1 by nobodies. In his prime he was almost impossible to stop.

I liked Vasquez i thought he was pretty good, but just never a pfp type. You might find 10 guys that good beat him in a HTH matchup in JM history, but based on resumes alone you could make a case for him cracking the top 10 JMs. He had some pretty good wins against good competition from all over including Top US competition like Winky,Marshall,Phillips,Davis.

He was far better than "pretty good" during his prime. 10 title defenses, beating very good and difficult fighters, Wright (at 25-0, KD'ing him 5 times), Aaron Superman Davis (38-1), Castillejo (29-1), Carl Daniels (35-1), Tyrone Trice (38-4)... not too shabby. Did far better against Whitaker than commonly given credit for. Watch the fight again, Whitaker gets shaken and wobbled several times, even Clancy remarks that Whitaker was having his problems with Vasquez's jab and strength, calling it the most serious test of Sweat Pea's career... The scoring was horrible in that fight, far too lopsided.

:good I think he ranks good in the lower tens or perhaps just outside. Definitly underated.
