Hopkins was the toughest purely speaking in terms of getting the win. Eubank was the toughest physically. Reid was a very close fight and a rematch was definitely in order. Gotta feel bad for Reid getting robbed against Ottke, then losing a questionable decision to Calzaghe. Guy couldn't catch a break.

Calzaghe also hurt his hand near start or middle of the fight and if i remeber rightly fought mostly one handed after that. Atleast im sure its the reid fight lol

He was a late opponent but he was already preparing for another fight.

At 31 he was still a force!

Reid gave him a tough fight but Calzaghe was the clear winner in my opinion. Hopkins gave hima tougher fight.

The reid fight also came during a very messy divorce I remember.

Excuses aside it was a poor performance against an excellent fighter.

A re-match would have been good but I don't know how much of that was down to Warren.

I agree, all this Eubank was past it stuff is bull****, in Steve Collins and Joe Calzaghe he was simply beaten by better fighters. I still laugh when people say Eubank was past it by the first Collins fight when he was 28!

I would agree that Eubank was possibly not at his very best, but make no mistake he was still a highly dangerous opponent for anyone!!!

That was only joes 22 or 23rd fight and it was a major step up in class.

Great fight to watch regardless of what anyone says.

I love the way that when he knocks him down in the first round, Eubanks gives him this look as if to say 'it's not gonna be that easy son'.

And it wasnt! I know what you mean though Eubank probably wasnt quite as good as when he fought Benn and the Watson fights but he was far from past it.

Calzaghe injured his left hand in the 4th round against Reid, who fought well on the inside.

Also, Calzaghe had been chasing Reid and Woodhall when they were WBC champions but they never wanted the fight. There was a bit of needle because Reid went to the Olympics in Spain and Calzaghe didn't.

Incidentally, the judges who scored the fight in favour on Joe were American, whilst the judge that scored it for Robin was English.

However, if you read Calzaghe's book, he will tell you that Eubank took him into a dark place that he had never been before.

    Mainly with his head!!!

JC always said he had trouble getting 'up' for fights like this who were not big names.
