Yeah but Gavin has got considerably better whereas DeGale still has pretty poor techinique. Come on too Rob, 4-5 months on a diet ? Nobody can stick to that kind of punishment. Your body needs a break, and even if he could have stuck to that kind of diet who was to say the signs were there that he needed to. Look at pro boxers, when they get older their bodies change, they need longer to get weight off but don't realise it and they fail to make weight because 10 weeks wasn't long enough. It happens all the time and this could well have been the case. Plus Gavin won the World Championships in 2007 at lightweight then in early 2008 he stepped up in weight and won the EU Amateur Championships at Light Welter. They tried to force him back to Lightweight for the Olympics so that they could squeeze another member (Bradley Saunders) into the team knowing full well he was too big. I'm not over keen on him personally however I would like him to prosper on the world stage seeing as he is British.
A regular person might not be able to stick to that but a world class olympic athlete can. At the top level you need to go above and beyond. I agree the whole Gavin situation was not handled correctly but to say he is not partly responsible would be incorrect. He had the repution of not being the best liver, perhaps thats an exageration. I actually think the whole situation will turn out to be a benefit to Gavin in the long run. i dont think DeGale looks fantastic either but he is not shockingly badlike some makeout. his transition from am to pro is tougher than the other becuase of his style.
If you think that it may turn out to benefit Gavin then look at my first post you TIT ! Thats my point exactly Anyway mate not saying is shockingly bad just that I dont like him personally and that I would probably pick Groves to beat him at this stage of their careers and probably in the near future (Next year or two) :good
If u would of seen me at the worlds u would of realised i was not able to make the weight, before the worlds they sent me to belarus at 64 where i won gold and best boxer same at the e u's a year later an i hang around with a lot of boxers an i go out less if not the same as then an i do drink but but not as much as u make out rob an never 6 to 8 weeks before a fight an never go out in manchester where i spend my last month or so before. an me make makin the olympic weight would be like makin super feather as a pro 2 pounds dif it just wasnt there an i was too big , im a good size light welter.

Go to Gaucho mate. Argentinian Steak house very good :good It's called Gaucho Grill. Pretty expensive but still very good mate http://www.gauchorestaurants.co.uk/restaurants/restaurant.php?id=manchester
Loads pal I like to go around the printworks before I go to the arena as it's literally infront of the arena. Then after that you have laods of places, Back to the printworks, that has around 8 bars and a couple of clubs (and restaurants) You could go along Deansgate (Living Room, Slug and Lettuce, Moon Under the Water, Label and then revolutions round the corner). Peter Street has Chicago's, Bar 38, Sqaure, Brannigans, and a couple more 5th Avenue is a taxi ride around town if you're into your Indie as is 42nd street I'd recommend either go back to the printworks or go to Peter Street - Best for a little bit of everything to be honest
amateur though, which is a huge difference from pro. i don't think gavin has looked as good as i expected him to in the pros. i'm also confused by your ultimate suggestion, because the ultimate would be to win all the titles in his weight division, and then become p4p#1.. now that's the ultimate.
