Bunce was once a great man to listen to, until he turned into an english boxing fanboy in recent times.

This idea that I'm a nationalistic nut is simple to explain.
I work on British and Irish radio stations and for British and Irish TV and for British and Irish papers -
I have to cater to a mass audience - I sell George Hillyard and not Kermit Cintron. Cintron's people never listen, never buy papers and never email my shows!
I don't have the excessive and often damaging luxury of an internet writer - I have to justify a name and work to a few hundred words (see Booth in today's Independent).
I have still delivered plenty of interviews with non-Brits/Irish in the last few years.
By the way, the boxing writers who went with Cockell on the boat to San Francisco half fancied him to win! Also, the ref on the night did let Marciano get away with cheating!
