DPW417, Thanks for your welcome....Ken Overlin,a greatly underated middleweight champ from the 1930,s, was called "The poor man,s Harry Greb".Overlin kept saying about this description of him, "Harry Greb, would lick me and anyone else today, on the SAME NIGHT, that I am sure of". Ken Overlin, was a perpetual machine , who licked everyone of the time, including Ezzard Charles in 1941 when Charles was KOing everyone, as a young middleweight..If the great ken Overlin, who had almost 200 bouts, against great boxers of the 1930s, was called the "poor man,s Harry Greb", what does that say about the original edition,HARRY GREB ?.

Any footage of Overlin? Did he deliberately try and emulate Grebs style?

Yes Fleaman, there is on youtube a short clip of the Overlin,Fred Heneberry fight in Australia. Heneberry was a real tough Aussie of the 1930s...Overlin never stops punching, ala Harry Greb..In almost 200 bouts he was only stopped once, I think by theforgotten great Freddie Steele...No one could truly emulate Harry Greb,s style ;it was one of a kind....A writer in the 1920,s described Greb aptly, thusly, "Harry Greb lived like an alleycat, and fought like a tomcat"....His physical prowess can never be duplicated......

    Burt,
    It speaks volumes!
Overlin's style just from the brief glimpse, looks like a difficult style to deal with.

The closer you look into Greb the more you have to say he was one of the best lb4lb and the greatest Middleweight Champion of all time. I alway had him at my number one. He fought the best of all weights and never divided the color line.
