I was thinking about this before for some reson and I wondered about common opponents and I thought it must be a low number so I looked into it.

They've sharde the ring with 5 common foes throughout there combined total of 89 fights. Does nobody else think that 2 lads who have constantly fought at the same weight, are from the same country and have held every version of the world titles between them have only fought 5 common opponents ??? I am shocked.

Here's a breakdown of the opponents for anyone interested.....

aah, great to see a retro style post like this, reminds me of the days when I used to defend Scotty on here, & Hatton V Witter actually meant something!
What a travesty that they never faced each other in their prime... it was **** like this that gave MMA a foothold... Top boxers not giving the public what they wanted.

Yea i second that, nice bit of research good to see someone take time and effort in a post. Curious on who won the WBO version though? :think Witter- WBC l/w, Hatton, IBF l/w x 2, WBA 'super' l/w (aka usual WBA crap) and WBA at w but who won the WBO version?

On the same opponent subect yea 5s very low u see the prospects nowdays having the same guys on their records, likes of taylor, delroy spencer, steve gethin, shaun walton, al hamdi etc (ppl i have TONS of respect for btw) Perhaps a pattern of increased protection lately. Hatton fought his second fight in vegas remember. U know even a year ago i was dyin to c this fight, now id probably rather watch antiques roadshow it'd be so irrelevent

Hatton is not down to earth.

Not even the "man of the people" image Hatton trys to portray is down to earth

    He swears
    He farts
    He drinks beer
He forgets to use condoms when shagging a bird and has to go out in his slippers to buy from his local shop
He eats junk food and goes fat
    He is greedy
He is a coward of Junior Witter
    He is money orientated
He talks **** and puts a spin on things

None of them things are down to earth in my book - he is just a classless chav.

Yeah I agree - good work there Dan.

However - while people like GazOC will like posts like this to give Hatton more credibilty than Witter.

Would it not be alot more simpler - if you could just say

Hatton beat Witter by - whatever TKO , KO or points.

But you cant say that because the bottom line is Hatton DUCKED Witter. :deal

They both knocked him out - its not like he proved he was the greatest by beating them.

So Witter would have been a fight more on his level. And many doubts Hatton could have beaten him.

What a **** post. Why when he could fight the best pound for pound fighters in the world would he choose to fight Witter? What could Witter bring to the table for Ricky to fight him? Big fan base? Big PPV sale here and USA? Enhance his rep in the USA? Be a big pay day? The answer to all of that is no he was not in the same league as Ricky simple as

    :lol::lol::lol:

    He fought Mayweather in 2008
He fought Manny Pac in 2009

From 2002 to 2007 - he had every oppurtinity to fight Witter to see who was the best in Britain.

And he ducked - what would have been a legimate British / Commonwealth title fight.

Instead he built up his resume beating up complete tomatoe cans defending a mickey mouse World title belt.

Ok he won the IBF title in 2005.

Witter won the WBC title in 2007/08

Lets get a unifcation on then.

BUT no - Hatton changed the goalposts again.

    Hatton is full of ****.

    :-(

I never said taking pride in farting, etc was being a ****.

I said that is not what I conisder being down to earth.

Being a drunk bloated mess - is not being down to earth.

A tramp who lives in my town -nice humble well spoken man - polite - but he lives on the streets and chats to everyone nicely - thats down to earth.

    Hatton might of beaten Witter.

I think Witter would have won.

But of course Hatton was World class and could have taken it.

But he wriggled out of it rather obviously.
