Just being honest bro. No disrespect intended at all. You're defending an awful style that is horrible to watch. Hatton is atrocious.

    Fact: Hatton sucks.

Fact: This is 40 years later.

Nobody, except drunks at British pubs (not saying that you are) or hometown fans find his style exciting and fun to watch.

Watch Hatton's fights in England over, mute the sound (because of that awful crowd that goes crazy for whatever he does), and you have John Ruiz in a 140 lb body. And that's a fact also.

If nobody outside of drunks in english pubs or hometown fans found his style exciting then why did he fill arenas on both sides of the atlantic, have millions watching him on tv and generally make ****loads of money while being a national celebrity and household name ?

    :huh

Very simple. Because people buy into bull****. And the reason he sold out arenas here was because those Brits traveled from over there to over here. Those weren't all American fans. Stop acting like he was some cross over attraction that revolutionized the game. There were more Brits at the Collazo, Urango, Castillo, Mayweather, & Malignaggi fights than Americans.

Sure Hatton is a big name because of his box office appeal, but that Box office appeal comes from drunk British fans, singing horrible songs, rooting for a guy who's skill is below amateur level. As far as Hatton being (in your mind) a "national celebrity & house hold name", then again, I tell you, that's in his part of the world.

    House hold name are:

    Ray Leonard
    Tommy Hearns
    Oscar Delahoya
    Julio Cesar Chavez
    Felix Trinidad
    Mike Tyson
    Roy Jones Jr
    And many others.

Ricky Hatton, may be a "celebrity" and a "house hold name", but not to the the degree over here in America that you seem to think. When Floyd knocked him out, there were guys around my neighborhood that were laughing & making jokes about how "Floyd just knocked out some white boy" If Hatton didn't have England behind him, he wouldn't be where he is right now. That's the only reason he stays a name and the reason people wanna fight him for big money. But Hatton is humble so I guess that helps alot. If Floyd was humble, he'd be an Oscar Delahoya type of figure here in America.

    Tszyu lost the "wrestling" match.

I watched the fight just the other day as I got a partial career set for Hatton (I'm not a Hatton fan, just like having as many fights as possible from the main fighters of the era).

For me, this fight is just one of those anomalies in boxing history where one guy, through sheer desire and power of will, puts it all together for one night and fights above his own capabilities.

I think Tszyu was a clearly superior fighter to Hatton, but Hatton fought absolutely out of his skin that night. His chin was more solid than ever, his punches were more accurate than ever, his tactics were perfect - it was a tremendous performance and he thoroughly deserved the win.

It was clear to me from the Magee fight that Hatton was not a good technician, had glaring flaws, and would be outclassed and dismantled by right opponent - but Ricky did manage to turn in a performance of genuine brilliance in the Tszyu fight.

He never ever looked that good either before or after that one IMO.

it wasn't that koysta wanted to fight on the inside, its that hatton made him fight on the inside and didn't give him any room to let his right go.

Yeah, because Mayweather is known as the wrestler among the 2. Hatton was diving in head 1st, threw 1 punch and started hugging. Just like he did in every other fight other than Malignaggi and Pacquiao. It's what he does. His entire fightplan is based on it.
