yeah gamboa should do just fine with thew age facto he is already one of the top featherweights and hes 28 so he doesnt have to climb any further now all he has to do is fight the best and hbo is behind him but rigo is 29 and he still has a lot of climbing to do thats the one that worries me

lara should also b ok with the age factor he is 26 with 2 years under his belt

Did anyone catch the special on Gamboa before his fight with Rogers? They showed lil kids training basically in isolation camps. Cuba might have the most disciplined boxing school in the world.

ive got faith in him, if he pays attention to the critics or saw what happened when a fat-so fights a klitschko (arreola/peter), then he would start shedding the big macs off his flabby ass. i think solis didn't take barrett seriously (rightly so) which is why he came into the fight the way he did.

I love Joel Casamoyor!!! But for more details on young cuban talent look at the documentary called Sons of Cuba. I missed it so I'm going to wait either til it re-airs or gets posted on youtube.

I predicted the rise of Cuban pro boxing as soon as the Golden Trio (Solis, Barthelemy, Gamboa) left the island 3 years ago to join prizefighting. It had a HUGE impact, since then about 15 more left Cuba, some outstanding (Rigondeaux), great (Lara, Garcia), good (Jhonson, Perez) and average boxers, some in their late (Barrera, Savigne), others in their early 20s (Acosta, Perez, Salinas, Santana).

This means about 15 or more unbeaten Cuban prospects, at least you're gonna see Cuban contenders regularly on TV, but most likely a lot of them grabbing a title or two. If you love boxing, you love Cuban boxing, it's skills, athleticism and excitement put together, and now many showcase their skills in the pro rankings, which is awesome. It took ages after Casamayor and Gomez to see the next Cuban professional on the horizon, but instead of one, they came in a bunch.

The next nation to produce many champs will be Russia and other ex-Soviet countries like Ukraine and others. Also, The Philippines is a hot region today and the UK looks good too. Expect most of the new crop to come from strong amateur background, and one country you should not overlook: China will have it's own professional stars maybe in a decade.
