LOL, I was pretty neutral about it, Marquardts a great guy and Ive been to his gym in Denver. He also happens to be one of those grapplers too for the record.

Brock has never been overwhelmed with strikes, he's sort of been busy knocking guys on their ass.

Kongo sure didn't finish Heath Herring, the one common opponent him and Brock share. Forget finish, he didn't win, he damn sure didn't get the better of the standup, he certainly didn't break his orbital bone and drop him with the first punch of the fight.

Sure didn't finish Cain Velasquez, didn't beat him either.

Pretty hard to take you as anything but a joke if you honestly believe Kongo is even deserving of a title fight, let alone thinking he would be even remotely competitive with Lesnar. The guy just isn't that good, by far the most impressive thing he's done is knock Mirko's nuts into his stomach.

But yea, Mir sure had Lesnar worried on the feet; especially in the first fight when Lesnar dropped him with the first punch, which seems to be a pretty common thing for a guy with "terrible standup"

You really are a pathetic joke.

its mma, look up most of the all time greats, they all lost to mediocre opponents. Anderson Silva lost to unknown jap fighters with near even amount of losses as they do wins. Couture loss to

    Valentijn Overeem
    26-23

    Enson Inoue 11-8

    i can go on .

Who cares if Heath won a close split decision. He couldn't beat Cro cop where kongo did, their all in the same rankings. in the beginning the strikers always struggle, but they all come around and develop a good streak late in their career against grapplers they can sprawl and use their striking.
Alistar Overeem is a good example of this.

His fight with Cain was taken on short notice and he gave him a beating on the feet. Kongo loss due to him losing the underdog status trying to perfect his grappling. Kongo needs full time training in his wrestling, but he's doing the right thing by trying to mix wrestling with striking in a paceful defensive way of fighting. That's what he tried to prove in the herring fight, to out grapple him the way Overeem is doing now in a his recent fights.

If Brock gets hold of LM with his xxxl gloves, LM is doomed.

We haven't even seen Lesnar take a punch, who is to say that Lyoto doesn't catch HIM with the first punch?

Maybe I just don't like Brock but I haven't been TOO impressed with him yet other then his size. I want to know what he does when someone lands a shot on him.

Oh and I am tired of listening to people try to justify how good he is, the way I see it is if you have to fight this hard to justify how good he is maybe he isn't as good as you think. Being great should be obvious, ie Fedor, A. Silva, GSP

nah i agree that machida will frustrate the **** out of brock. but i'm scared of what brock might do with him once he gets a hold of lyoto which IMO is unevitable.. i don't think lyoto can shake off brocks hold like he did with other guys and brock is too smart ( i hope ) to try to beat lyoto with a stand-up. this will most likely end with brock KO via GNP

he has good speed for a big man and athleticism to add with his size ( reminds me of Shaq, what makes him "special" is that he can carry that much weight compared to other fighters his own size ). i agree that he is not as great as Fedor, Silva, and GSP. but i think he will reign as the champ for a long time given that Fedor doesnt decide to jump to UFC.

this is what im concerned about too. if machida somehow gets to avoid getting into brock hands for like 3 rounds. brock "might" start to gas and slow down.

but regardless of the outcome, i will still have mad respect for machida

What, beat Lesnar or defend 5 times? Both look less likely after his last outing.

Both. I thought Machida's fight against Shogun was one of his best performances short of KO'ing various opponents. There probably wasn't another fighter in the UFC light heavyweight division that could have turned back Shogun's assault that night.

Perhaps. But for me that fight brought Machida back down to earth, at least from our perspective. He doesn't have that aura of invincibility that a lot of us thought he had before the Shogun fight (me included). As for beating Lesnar, he's too small I would think but I suppose it isn't totally out of the question that he could win.

Its one thing Machida stuffing a Tito Ortiz takedown, but its a completley different ballgame trying to keep a 280lb very good wrestler from taking you to the mat and raping you.

I personally think Brock takes this one quite easily.
