Adamek stiil learning and build skills for HW, I think he was better than Povetkin and Estrada was better today for sure more activ and faster than Povetkin fight. This fight was more interesting and higher level.
That was clearly not the game plan in this fight. Even when Estrada went on the defense in I think round 7 or 8? Adamek didnt seem to be willing to give into Estradas change of roles, and go on a full out attack, and seemed to prefer to circle and box from the outside.
It was the Adamek's tactic to land some punches and step back, to fight in the distance. Tbh it was a very good fight but I am not as satisfied as I wanted to be (I bet Adamek KO). Estrada didnt want to go to the war and Adamek fought very smart. Now Tomasz has to do some hard work and we will see the effects in the future.
Well now I'm curious how Estrada handled Adamek's power. Can't wait to watch it on youtube eventually...
3 things: -it was Adamek's 2nd fight at HW -Estrada was never KD or KO -it was Estrada lowest weight in the career and possibly best fight
You are right, he needs more of a chance to be able to judge it fairly. It's just my suspicion. It's not just the explicit signals of power I'm looking but also the implicit. I didn't really expect him to KO Estrada or even really shake him badly. For example, in the Povetkin fight Estrada wasn't so game, he wasn't so keen to chase Povetkin down and pressure him. Some of that comes down to Povetkin's differing style but also the fact he didn't want to taste too many of them by exposing himself. He just looked a lot more uncomfortable in the ring that night, his facial expressions, body language, everything. Aside from the obvious that Povetkin actually hurt him of course in the final round. And this is Povetkin we're talking about, nobody consider him a big puncher. I'm just finding it difficult to imagine how he's hurting a guy like Arreola or Povetkin at the moment, let alone having enough to hang with the really big boys. He's going to have to land some serious leather with pinpoint precision in my opinion, and if he's getting backed up thats going to be even more difficult. I do think he's a terrific fighter and I'm surprised how much he's improved himself over the years, but I do feel this is going to be too large of an obstacle to overcome at heavyweight.
Maybe this was his game plan? He was fighting fast HW at weight he never been before, why he should go after KO? He outboxed fast boxer. He could press harder maybe but in the future with bigger guys he will have no chance to use pressure he will have to fight like today, circling and boxing possible for the whole 12 rounds at the same weight he is now. The difference will be that these other guys will be more powerful and slower, so based on todays experience we know that Adamek may outbox most of them as long as he will not get tired and get caught by big heavy shot. From Golota fight we also know that if the other guys are indeed slower then Adamek may try to catch them with some nice combinations and possibly stop. So bottom line, Adamek may do well and have a few options depending on opponents. The only problem now is to adjust to the new weight with better power and conditioning.
Thats what I meant. That to keep the distance, circle, and box from the outside was his game plan. Not to go for the kill. They expected the fight will go the distance, and were right. Adamek did exactly what he was supposed to do, and did it against another fast boxer, which like I mentioned Adamek does worst against.
If they would fight and lose but at least show some heart and humility then I wouldn't mind too much. Back when guys like Guinn, Brewster and Monte Barrett looked like they might have some potential.... they were fighters first. Sure, none of them (toss Calvin Brock on that list too) turned out to be that great (aside from a few good showings here and there) but they took their losses like men. KJ, Estrada and their kind are no use at all. They yap on and on about their great defense. Wonderful. And in **** poor, losing efforts they're even more obnoxious.
Don't worry.... the same thing that happened with Lennox Lewis will happen with Wlad and Vitali. They'll be hated during their reign, but when they're gone they'll be spoke of fondly. Even by their most harsh critics.
This looks similar to Adamek's first steps at CW, where he 'bulked' to around 198lb, his fight with Pineda was somehow comparable to fight with Golota, the next one with Jalusic was a bit disappointment cause everybody was counting on fast KO. The another one with Bell looks like right on pair with Arreola ... so its time for Arreola to cry again :hey
I agree b/c so many people hate on them right now. At least they always come in shape and have high KO percentages.
