I had the wrong aspect ratio on my tv which made Coleman look even worse.

Rogan had no choice, he had to sell this garbage of a fight. I honestly think he was worse with the Sonnen fight. Nate won 1 out of the 15 minutes of fighting and Rogan was "Wow what a fight!!!"

"I think Sonnen won but stranger things have happened":rofl

Coleman definitely isn't anything like he was. However, he can always resort back to wrestling. I know what their plan was tonight. It was to catch Couture with a big punch and try to take advantage of what seems to be a vulnerable Couture chin nowadays. Coleman actually rocked Randy in that first round. The problem is... Coleman isn't comfortable enough on his feet for that gameplan to work without at least mixing it up and making Couture weary about takedown attempts.

I don't think a lack of energy was Coleman's problem. I think he clearly doesn't have the burst that he used to have... however it is WAY too late in the game for his team to try and turn him into a stand up striker. As soon as it was clear that Coleman's lack of head movement was being zoned in on by Randy... they should have jumped ship on that angle and give it a try with the only chance he had by that point. Taking Randy down and trying to see if he could test that punch resistance on the ground. Randy even started selling out on his punches a little bit and gave Coleman an opportunity for a takedown. However, it was very clear that Coleman was trying to follow a gameplan.... which was a failed one.

I felt that Couture would win anyways... only because I always felt that eventually in the fight, Coleman would tire and end up taking a sloppy shot and Randy would hit him with an anaconda choke or something along those lines off of the sprawl. It ended up a bit differently, but same result.

I wish Mark had enough money to retire.

I wasn't talking about Randy showing major improvements in this particular fight. I was talking about Randy Couture in general.

Well there's the answer right there - don't stage these things every two months.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder (and the wallet open up).

What am I, chopped liver? :bart

To expound on Tuffnutz' analysis, it's not just Silva's toughness that denies Vitor a puncher's chance. You need to be able to land clean to have a puncher's chance. Silva has head of the pack MMA stand-up defense. Vitor has decent speed but it was a lot better 10 years ago, and even against that version I don't think Silva gets hit with anything he doesn't want to get hit with. Anderson may be chronologically older but his athletic ability and survival skills will make Belfort look slow and old. :nod

People are sentimental creatures and do want to see magic from old heros. Everyone in this thread knows you could book a Holmes vs Foreman fight today and it would make alot of money.

Widdow is a Columbus product and probably knows Coleman. Widdow is speaking with his heart right now instead of his brain. Coleman needs to give it up.

Dana is a promoter first a fan second. Coleman vs Bonnar didnt even make the prelims. The fight wasnt aired on TV. Coleman gets put in with Couture and the fight headlines?!?! Two geriatrics being marketed off their names? Dana knew exactly what he was doing. Now he's saying Marks done in the UFC. Whats frightening is Mark was supposed to debut vs Lesnar in the UFC. Can you imagine the carnage if that had happened?!!??!?!
