Mark said years ago when he just left for PRIDE that when they took headbutts away he had to learn a bunch of new skills... That statement alone pretty much explains Marks mentality ability and character. Mark had the doorman mentality. He chose MMA as because at the time it seemed an easy way for him to make money. In PRIDE without the drug testing he could juice up to the gills and as always with gear heads they feel invinceable. Mark spent his entire career as a heavy. Taking into account his age, and he's fighting style he had no business whatsoever trying to make 205. Even when he fought Fedor the second time he looked like a tired old man. He's body didnt have the fullness it had when he was on gear and Mark never developed as a fighter to become a serious threat to the best heavies in the world. Mark knew at least 8 or so years ago long after blowing out his knee's that his career was/is done. At 45 he's still here trying to make the ends meet. Very sad indeed...
Coleman was awful. He didn't even try to get a takedown. He could barely move. I wish Fedor would just go to the UFC and destroy everyone and then **** off leaving Dana White to try and make excuses.
You know whats sad, those guys were preparing to fight at the PRIDE 2000 GP. Both men at the time were two of MMA's premier athletes. Compare both of them to the pathetic shell's they are now thanks to drug abuse and you have a case for two of the most tragic men in the sport. Coleman and Kerr should have hung them up a long long time ago.
Congratulations. You've managed to come up with a worse hypothetical matchup than Herschel Walker vs Jose Canseco.
I don't know why you guys are fooling yourselves about saying COleman was old bad too weak or what - he fought like he always fought as did Couture. Randy Couture beats the wheels off of Coleman at any stage of their respective careers. This was a great performance from Randy Couture who is only two fights removed from putting in a great performance against another great fighter Minotauro Nogeuira. Coleman just won his last fight by ground and pounding Stephan Bonner into the mat. Randy Couture wins this fight and impressively 9 times out of 10.
Right now Canseco vs Walker is fire compared to Kerr Coleman. Can you imagine how pathetic that fight would be? Without their drugs neither fighter was anything.
I disagree... then again, it's like debating spoiled apples vs rotten apples. It's the same unappealing idea, no matter which one you choose.
Despite what they said on the broadcast, it does seem as if Thiago go sub of the night and rightly so. Thiago is a tough dude, I had a feeling he would win this fight. I also enjoyed watching his segment on the countdown show. Was expecting much more from him. Hopefully he learns from this. Also thought Serra and Sonnen did a job good. Despite his **** talking, I have to hand it to Sonnen. The guy is on a good run and has beaten some tough guys.
If Coleman ever had a shot against Couture it was years ago before Couture rounded out his game. Then maybe he could have done what he did to Severn. It's sad that he has to keep fighting. With his name and credentials, can't he get a job coaching wrestling or something? I can't believe that he's going to end up in nickle and dime shows making a couple grand a fight for the rest of his life. As for Tito, yeah he's a douchbag, but does anyone really think Coleman did his job last night? He should never have been allowed in there as old and tired and slow as he is, but to show up and say "oh I have great cardio" and then lay an egg like that? I'm sure there were tons of people all over the world who wanted to say "jesus you suck, give it up old man" which is probably what Tito said to him, perhaps sprinkled with "I see why you didn't want to fight me before" blah blah blah. From Tito's point of view, this is a perfect rivalry to start up. It's someone he can clearly beat, perhaps even at his own game that is a big name that certainly make the main card if not another horrible main event. I wouldn't be shocked if Coleman was playing along too because when he sees a fight with Tito he sees dollar signs.
