Why is it that Hatton is finished but Cotto isn't?

People are saying Ricky Hatton should retire yet don't say the same for Cotto. Miguel recieved a bigger beating against Pacquiao than Hatton did. Hatton was coming off a dominating victory over Malignaggi while Cotto was coming off a controversial "win" over Clottey. I would also like to add the beating Margarito gave cotto.
So why is it that Hatton and not Cotto should retire? :think

Short answer is that Cotto is better than Hatton.

Not the worst point. However, Cotto hasn't blown up to cruiserweight between fights that I know of. Between his own habits and the shots he's taken, there's more reason to believe that there's less left in Ricky.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing them fight each other, it should have happened at 140 anyhow.

    Cotto is still a force.

As far as Hatton, how many more fights do you want to see a guy who always leaves his hands down before he gets truly hurt?

It's a valid point, not only that but both are of similar age.

Quite simply put, I dnt believe Hatton was ever as good as Cotto and as mentioned above he doesn't let himself go between fights.

Mismatch. Hatton - Marquez would be better.

    A) Cotto is better

    B) There is a large-ish contingent of people who feel Cotto is finished as well

    C) If public perception is anything, Hatton's got some pretty shitty time off habits (by fighter standards) which cut a few years off of his career expectancy.

    D) Cotto has already sort of hinted that his retirement is coming up, sort of making it pointless for people to tell him to retire.
