I believe his hand speed to be overrated. I've always maintained that.

...I've only been awe struck by him once really, and that was when he decimated Ricky Hatton with a single left hand. That was destructive.

 

to be honest as good as he is a find hopkins quite often dull to watch also eubank could be pretty boring too

On a bad day,it would be like watching paint dry seeing these two fight. As capable as they were. I wish Hopkins and Roy Jones would retire.

mr butt was right about hopkins ,he is awful to watch sometimes,but then again he learnt his craft as stanley ketchel's sparring partner,or so it seems.

Outside of his HW attempt against Ruiz, I've always considered Jones to be a talented fighter who played it safe too many damn times to warrant my attention. I respected him more following his "win" over Tarver, getting kayoed by Tarver, Johnson and later Green.

Same here. Jones had a lot of extremes, people who absolutely loved him and others who despised him, but I was usually indifferent about him. I rooted for him later in his career because he happened to be fighting certain guys whom I wanted to see lose (Tarver, Calzaghe).

His speed was insane though. Single shots, flurries, combinations with power behind them, counter shots, reflexes, etc...

 

Tunney is a good example he was considered a good natured bright all-American boy.

 

I disagree immensely. I actually think Floyd's handspeed is more overrated of the two. No way Floyd can throw combos the way Manny does. With that type of speed in a flurry (And power).

 

I think Floyd can throw incredible combos, but it's almost completely counter to his style to do it when he's in with someone who keeps him defensively responsible, which is basically everyone of note he's fought. He threw ridiculously accurate combos against Gatti and N'dou, but he outclassed them so badly that he opened up way more than usual. He's also an underrated finisher.
