Roy Jones passed the torch to Mayorga.

Mayorga then used the torch to light his cigar and burn his name into his 4th mistress.

He isnt in my top favorite fighters personally.... but as far as his popularity its pretty self explainitory he was the 1990s/2000s SRL, gold medalist, fought everyone there was to fight. He had a natural charisma and said all the right things to win over the public and journalists, played the good guy role.

Didn't Mayorga gank the torch from Ali and use it to get lifted with Merchant?

If I ever become a famous director, my first movie project is going to be about a cross country road trip starring Ricardo Mayorga, Larry Merchant and Roger Mayweather.

It'll be about how Johnny Tapia broke into Merchant's house and stole his finest booze...and the trio travels to New Mexico to get it back. I won't spoil the ending but it involves Johnny Tapia and Ricardo Mayorga having a knife fight at the special olympics.

You better hurry up, that dream dies if Tarantino gets a hold of your screenplay.

Plus a movie with Tapia and Mayorga would demolish the current rating system.

He was rubbed in his rematch against Mosley. Roy Jones division was dead or lacking good boxers and competition while in Oscar division there was the best competition. He loved a challenge, as it can be seen when he went up a couple of weigt levels,to fight Hopkins. Oscar was a real warrior.
