After Pavlik beats MArtinez, Williams will be forced to fight. Goosen wont be able to keep him in protective custody anymore.

All of it is pretty well documented. Arum and Pavlik said the same offer was on the table. Williams said thanks but no thanks. He had just been involved in a FOTY candidate, while Pavlik struggled to draw a crowd in his own hometown. It should be pretty obvious to see why Williams' team would want a better deal than what they were getting before. After that, both sides moved on. It's not like either side is trying particularly hard to make the fight right now, and HBO seems to have more interest in setting up a Bute fight.

IMHO, neither side was being particularly reasonable with their offers (Pavlik's team was crazy if they thought Williams would accept the same offer, and Williams' team is crazy if they thought Pavlik would accept 50/50), and neither side really seems to care. Most people thought Williams drew with or lost to Martinez anyway, and Pavlik's making the fight with Martinez, who should be an easier style matchup for him anyway. Williams, who the hell knows, but he seems to be having second thoughts about wanting Pavlik as well.

No counteroffer from the Williams team, and no noise from his camp despite the fact that Pavlik has been setting up a fight with Martinez, the only other guy Williams could get a big money fight with. If they wanted a Pavlik fight, they'd be making a stink about it.

Pretty much both sides(Pavlik and Williams) are set in what they want if the fight is going to be made so to

Pavlik or Williams doesn't want a part of the other doesn't make sense!!

Would it be fair to say that Pavlik was doesn't want any parts of Williams because he hasn't come up with a counter offer?

Plus you also have to remember this fight was signed and ready to go last October and Pavlik had to postpone until he pulled out!

Brickhaus is right. If both of your two most lucrative potential match opponents are fighting each other, and the higher profile one would rather fight you, you would think Williams would make more of a stink about it, if he wanted the fight.

It doesn't work the other way around because Pavlik is getting paid. Martinez is getting paid.

I have always said Williams should go back down in weight while he still can, to 47 and maybe they are wising up. Watching the way he got nailed over and over again by the likes of Hicket Lau and Matthyse I always felt he would get into trouble against good opposition. He is a good fighter but at 47, if he isn't drained, he Caballeroify the division.

I think they screwed up after they won the Quintana rematch. If they had just stayed down at welter and kept winning, he would be these huge shadow hanging over Pacquiao and Mayweather, and Mosley, then again, maybe if he goes back down he is a bit drained and loses a UD to another Quintana level guy which would be a disaster.

Pavlik will destroy him easily. Martinez beat him IMO in a good fight. And Martinez isn't even a middle.

I'm one of the few Pavlik supporters that said from the beginning that I didn't like the Williams fight because Paul is just too small for Kelly. I think they realize that now.

What I realize about alot of you "biased against PW posters" is that you tend to forget about PW signing to fight KP to have KP pullout!!!! The sad thing is that in KP pulling out of the fight you guys searched for anything to make it seem as if team Williams is "scared" to fight Pavlik!:huh

Get this through your head! Team Williams said that they are not doing business with Team Pavlik!!!!!!!!! This is a clip after KP pulled out of the fight twice and before he "got beat around the ring"(By you PW hating standards) by Martinez!!!!!!!

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6vDKIb7N7E[/ame]

What makes it more pathetic is that you PW haters will stoop to any level to discredit PW even if he's in the right!! Where I come from thats called ignorance!!! It would be entertaining if you guy's where just doing it for kicks but in reality ya'll believe the B.S you say?:-(

I think both sides have backed off a bit from wanting the fight. The only reason either one wanted it in the first place was because it was the biggest money fight available for either guy. Now, it looks like HBO is willing to build up Martinez and/or Bute for Pavlik to fight, so Williams isn't his only option anymore, and for Williams, after the Martinez fight his team might have just realized he was biting off a bit more than he can chew quite yet.
