i said it was a while ago. but it has happened. and he was down when he was at his peak against williams. it is possible. calling walking through a guy's shots who has stopped every mw he's faced "obstacles" is under selling it a touch i think. he's gonna have to go through hell to do it. impossible....of course not. but a lot harder than everyone is making it seem
:roflWhat? I never said that. You did. Overcoming Pavlik's pressure, avoiding flush shots, and not giving away rounds will be his obstacles. Walking through Pav's shots will kill him.
ahh...first guy did. apologies :good he said all he has to do take kelly's shots and he'll win. well, yes...but...easier said than done. i really like sergio and i'm glad he's getting all this attention, but he's being very overrated based on one fight williams and kelly is being very underrated b/c of one fight at lhw. sergio is not an atg b/c he gave williams a tough fight and kelly isnt a bum b/c he got his ass handed to him at lhw by one of the best of this generation.
Very bland and somewhat untrue statement. I think the majority of the logical people here have covered their beliefs on this fight pretty well.
youve been on here long enough to know that the majority of logical people comprise a very very small % of the posters on here and that is more or less the long and short of it. kelly was probably overrated before hopkins and is now underrated after...sergio was underrated before williams and now is getting overrated. just the way it seems to work. there is a bandwagon effect just like any other sport.
I could see it that way. Hence why I said somewhat untrue. Truthfully though it could just be the pure stylistic aspects of the fight. I HATE to use a Hopkins-ism but Pavlik hasn't seen "the quickness of a black fighter" (or whatever that bull**** he said) in quite a while. Sergio is outstandingly quick with his hands and his foot speed isn't anything to sniff at. Pavlik could be befuddled and confused by how slick Sergio is early on and might not be able to do enough at the end to get a KO or take a decision win. It's a risky fight for both.
Like before how people said Kessler would win the Super Six and now think he's damaged goods I get you.
right you are :good sergio is a tougher fight for kelly than williams i think. the reason being as you point out is styles. i agree this is risky for both guys. terrible risk/reward for kelly and a great opportunity for sergio
To be fair it's risky for Sergio too. Say what you want about the legitimacy of the results but he is only 1-1-1 in his last 3 fights. Win over Bunema, Loss to Williams, draw to Cintron. If he loses to Pavlik, he's 1-2-1 and looking on the outside of things at 160. If he's KOed? He might as well kiss his chances at superstardom good bye.
very true. poor guy looked so helpless fighting out of a clinch or dealing w/ someone who plays rough. but i expect him to come back fighting. froch is a good style matchup for him just like kelly was for bernard.
right...but unless sergio gets stripped before the fight, he'll still have his jmw title win lose or draw. and he's damn sure earned the right to a williams rematch. if paul can pick off a title at jmw, then that would another good payday in a unification (i really see it working out this way) at sergio's age, a big payday and a crack at the mw king is a no brainer if he can just go back down to jmw and defend his title. big "if" though since its rumored on here that he may get stripped.
Yeah but that's like getting a participant award instead of a gold medal. Yeah..ya got it but who cares?
