The Ring: "It's Unseemly Of Chad Dawson To Taunt And Call Out Bernard Hopkins"

I want to frame this and put it on my wall.

 

That's why I hate rankings. Dawson wouldn't be ducking Hopkins if he fights young lions such as Cloud or if he fights Pascal in June.

It's way to be readable to be written by Hopkins. Here's what Hopkins article on Dawson's quote would look like:

"Chad Dawson be cryin about the fact that Bernard Hopkins will not fight his unknown ass on HBO. See, dis da hypocrite about Dawson. Dis da hypocrite about a guy who be duckin all his challengers. Meanwhile Hopkins is takin on da top fighters like Roy Jones Jr and Enrique Ornealas. As Dawson be fightin some french guy in nowhere, Hopkins is on his way to Igaland to call out Joe Calzakky. Das why Dawson is a hypocrite."

If Dawson really wants to fight Bernard Hopkins he needs to show up at the post fight press conference and call out B-Hop to his face. That's the only way to get him in the ring!

 

On one hand, a 45 year old man (Hopkins) should not be expected to fight every up n comer (Dawson).

On the other hand, the p4p#4 (Hopkins) should not be preying on a shot-to-**** name (Jones).

 

he has a point, but he shouldnt be on the top 4 or 5 p4p lists if he is subject to this rule

uness he knocks RJJ out in a couple of minutes then he shouldnt be in the top 10 imo... i know this is a little off subject but this match up with rjj is rediculous, especially considering his loss

 

He has Pascal lined up for June and Cloud is one of the more mismanaged fighters around right now. He had a chance to fight on a Dawson undercard with a shot at Dawson if he were to win and turned it down. And make no mistake, if Hopkins continues to be rated at the top of the rankings and Dawson doesn't try to fight him then he would be seen as avoiding one of the top guys in the division.

I want to see Dawson get out of the seniors business as much as anyone but the fact is he fights in a division where some of the best happen to be older guys as evident by Johnson-Mack several days ago.

I agree with this. I have no issue with Hopkins choosing his challenges carefully — although the Jones fight is a disgrace, as Roy could end up getting carried out horizontally — but The Ring has no business promoting someone it believes should be protected as a PfP fighter.

If Bernard can't hack it against elite competition, then why the hell is he ranked PfP top 5? There is simply no way for The Ring to answer that question adequately.

 

If you wanted to be critical of Dawson, you could accuse him of wasting some of his prime years due to inactivity. I definitely think he's fighting at too slow a pace for a young combatant.

But otherwise, he has said that he's frustrated along with everyone else about the seniors situation.

 

Ivan Goldman can go **** himself. This dumbass writes for a magazine that ranks Hopkins AHEAD of Dawson on its P4P list. How the hell can he turn around and say Hopkins is too old for Dawson to be trying to fight him? This is why there are only 6 ring champs(soon to be 3). They do stupid **** like rank Dawson and Hopkins #1 and #2 and then they write about how a fight between the two shouldn't be made. Can someone tell me why I should trust this magazine or their rankings?

People complain that Dawson lacks any sort of excitement out of the ring... yet they complain and tell him to grow up when he tries to show some spark. I don't see why Hopkins shouldn't be subjected to this sort of stuff. It isn't as if he didn't make a career out of doing the exact same thing... and it isn't like he wouldn't be doing the same thing to Dawson if he thought he could beat him.
