Danny Lopez, (Bobby Chacon), Hard hittin' Featherweights?

Hamed. Some feel he was one of the hardest P4P hitters of all time, a freak.

Terry McGovern supposedly had an ATG punch. Maybe one of the P4P best punchers of all time if the Gans fight was on the level.

I'm about 110% sure no ones going to mention him... So how about Paul Hodkinson? 21 knockouts in 22 wins. His only decision coming against Marcos Villasana, the Oliver McCall of the feathers.

Some people are high on Fenech, looking at how he almost killed Payakaroon and effectively ended his career as a world class fighter.

Marcos Villasana himself here warrants mention... 47 knockouts in 55 wins. Man could punch.

Hmm.. Who else.

 

Hamed is a good call. Bloke who can keep boxers honest with his power alone. Footage defies belief for me, hamed had 0 technique just reflexes and power.

Just starting to learn about Little Red. Definitely admirable fighter. Great heart and following.

 

I hope the thread starter isn't trying to say that Little Red was an "unsung hard hitting Featherweight." Banging guys so hard they went down like somebody shot 'em is the thing Danny is best remembered for.

One quick glance at my avatar will tell ya how I feel about Lopez. When I found out he finally made the IBHOF I felt like throwing a party!!

 

This was my favorite segmen so far on real Sports. Im pretty sure i was at that same WBHOF banquet were they showed clips.

Bobby is doing better now but even then when he was down and out he seemed to be a pretty happy guy. Real big heart inside and outside the ring. Danny is also a real class act. Ive mentioned many stories on here about these guys, so ill save it. Ill just say both of them are among my all time favorites.

Oh yeah many of you might not know that Blinky Rodriguez the one shown a few times throughout this clip is a former LH World Kickboxing Champion who once knockout the legendary Super Foot Bill Wallace. He Co owned ( Along with The greatest kickboxer Benny Urquidez also his Brother in law)one of the gyms i trained as a youngster Bennys Jet center he also trained Mexican heavyweight hope Alex Garcia. Blinkys wife was also a Champion Kickboxer and Boxer(before womens boxing got popular) Lily Rodriguez(Rip).




Anyways Blinky was encouraged to turn Pro as a boxer and according to my sources could have been champ.
He no longer trains fighters but is and advocate to curb gang violence(like Bobby his son was also murdered). They sure had a great gym kind of new age at the time (mid 80s) I just missed Bobby training at the gym heard he was a regular before i started going. Bobby was real tight with Blinky and the Urquidez family.

Ricardo Moreno - Hit as hard as any Featherweight legens how about 59 knockouts in 60 WIns!!! Who can match that regarded as one of the best punchers in boxing history by Ring Magazine(forgot where they ranked him)


Arturo Pineda was a big banger who had wars with Chacon,Lopez,Mando Ramos among others.

Art Hafey- Alexis Arguello said he was never hit harder.

Elley Burnett- Im sure some of the Aussie posters here know off the Aboringine bomber.

Torpedo Billy Murphy-Pioneer was really a bantam but fought at feather and even kod Lightweights and reportdley welters.

Chalky Wright- Surprised he wasnt the first to come to mind. Im surprised no one here talks of him much.

Tommy Collins-KOd a faded Willie Pep(controversial), Dropped a rock chinned Sadler,andKod Fabela Chavez .

Augie Sanchez- I was very impressed with his power to bad he had a glass jaw.

I'll never forget the right hand that ko'ed Juan Malvarez..after Lil' Red was being decked and bounced from pillar to post...man he silenced the Argentine crowd in the second round.

 

danny definitely had that great equalizer in his right hand. bobby had a formidable wallop too although id clearly consider Lopez the greater and harder puncher.

 

Antonio Esparrogoza probably deserves a shout at feather...He was a very good boxer-puncher I thought.

Bennett could definitely whack anarci...He was the number one contender at bantamweight for a short while, after he beat the no2 contender Schoomaker and reports were that they were getting an offer together for Ortiz to come out but there was some trouble because at the time Australian law prohibited someone leaving the country with anymore than 1000 pounds...I think 7000 was the offer ( which is apparantly $350000 today)

Did have issues with boxer types though...I would put him up there with the biggest punchers of the weight or maybe just slightly below.

One of my favs...just an excellent example of his power because it didnt matter if he was under the pump he could stop you.

Actually it was probably the worse thing you could possibly do is to hurt Danny because he came back like something possessed nearly every time.
