Pac Vs Clottey, anybody else not really interested?

I really want to witness the unthinkable when Clottey beats Pac to sleep... But I can't see myself giving Bob Arum a dime.

 

I'M interested. Clottey is an A fighter, a seriously threatening mother****er. I don't blame casual fans for not knowing what kind of challenge Pac is taking on, but if you hang out on a boxing msg board, you sure as **** should know better. Fighting Clottey is every bit as tough as fighting Cotto or Mosely and probably a ****load tougher than fighting Margo without loaded gloves.

The next day, eveyone will realize how foolish they were for asuming Clottey was a B or C level fighter, yet Cotto is being given A-status... Even after Clottey whipped his ass in a lot of people's minds (including one of the judges) as he lost a razor-thin fight that could have gone either way.

 

Not interested in paying for this fixed/cherry-picked fight which only has the purpose of lining the pockets of Bob Arum while denying fans the fight they really wanted to see.

I should reward Pacquiao and Arum for ducking Mayweather by spending $50 on their bogus event? Besides, Clottey has no shot, sorry. Moving heavy bag for Manny to tee off on. A heavy bag that has 1 KO in his last 11 fights as well.

Sorry, but I will not be a fan of Manny again until he mans up and fights Floyd.

 

A top welterweight as a tune up aint bad. Sure it doesnt have as much impact a fight as Mayweather-Mosley but what other fight at welter is there? At least we're assured that its gona be an exciting fight to watch.

 

Not with you. I'm definitely interested. This, at least, is a proper boxing bout.

Clottey's a tank. I wouldn't pick him to win (Pac by moderately wide UD would be my guess), but it's not outside the realms of possibility either. IMO, this is a harder fight than any of ODLH, Hatton or Cotto, and people who haven't seen the Clottey-Corrales fight could be in for a surprise. The dude can rumble when he needs to.

In terms of the style match-up, it's intriguing if not adrenalin-inducing. Pac hasn't been in with anyone quite like Clottey before, and I'm interested to see how it unfolds (without giving Arum any cash, obviously).

 

It goes to show how good Pacquiao is if you think Clottey has no shot. Its basically saying nobody except PBF or Mosley can even be competitive.

If it's your opinion that Clotty isn't competitive, then it's your opinion that Mosely isn't competitive, because they're pretty much on the exact same level at this stage of Mosely's career. Also, is there ANYONE who doesn't believe that Pac would have gone for Mosely first if he had been available at the time?

 

I personally think Clottey is on the Margo level(without bricks) and just a notch below Cotto. B+ possibly A- on his best night. That said, styles makes fights, I think he's too stationary for Pac.

And he better bring a comfortable stretcher.

 

this fight has Pac domination written all over it. Clottey is too slow and throws less punches/ has a way lower workrate than any of Pacs recent opponents. not to mention clottey doesn't possess one punch KO power and uses very little movement. he's a sitting duck for Pacquiao, Pac will dominate and TKO him from accumulation...clottey doesn't stand a chance. boring fight imo

Obviously, I am the only fool (or sheer genius) that hinks Clottey will without a doubt whip Pac convincingly. And I don;t expect many to agree, but the people who don't see what you are saying about Clottey are just plain blind.


He has never rolled over for anyone. He isn't the most active fighter down the stretch, but he's only been outlanded once in his career, and that was against Margarito when he set a compubox record.


And yes, this fight will be much tougher than that ODLH and Ricky Hatton debacle, and a better all-around fight than that Cotto humiliation. Pac is phenomenal, but Clottey will test his patience, resolve, and ability to adjust. He will not make it easy on him.

By the way, we know that Pac has been dazed, stunned, etc. And he won't be the only one throwing punches...
