i say it cus he aint that big, if bigger fighters aint complaining about making 147 why should he,.

only reason he find it hard is either because he's a lazy trainer or a just eats too much the greedy *******.

You have no understanding of the human body or biology if you think making weight depends on height and reach.

i understand besides size there is the body's metabolism, but even having saying that,

if a (clottey) fighter is much smaller but has a slow metabolism, compared to a much large fighter (PW) who has a quick metabolism,

and small guy is still complaining? u got to seriously question his work ethics in the gym or his diet.

it aint just PW thats bigger, theres magarito, mosley, floyd, and so on and just by coincidence that all these guys have super speed metabolism? i very much doubt it.

I think he was saying that you have other factors like calf measurements, thigh measurement, etc.

thats no gud excuse, his legs were no bigger than cotto, his upper body were not much bigger than cotto.

there's a perfectly gud reason why he has a low ko rate and thats because he's a defensive fighter.

i dunno why he's afraid to say that instead of making crappy excuses.

so if manny wins, haters will accuse him of beating Clottey at a catchweight of 147 pounds because clottey is cutting wieght to make 147 lol

but what you didn't know was that cotto weighed only 146 pounds in his last fight. so he only has to drop one more pound, and that is against a man who only weighed 138 pounds in his last fight

i also always thought robbing your 135 lb opponent of 2 pounds when you agreed to a catchweight of 144 is a farce

As he said, the better fights are at 147 so he stays in that division for the potential of big pay days and legacy I assume. The division is pretty stacked with most of the cash cows in it. And he's facing one on the 13th. So theoretically you can say it paid off, perhaps.

With that said, great interview. I like his honesty. I like fighters who are honest and don't give bull**** interviews or answers to pander to the media. This should be an interesting fight. I would be completely shocked if he beat Pac but I know for damn sure it won't happen via a decision.. he'd have to KO him. If he did in fact win, it would be one of the BIGGEST upsets in history and would be damaging to Pac going into his elections. Another interesting thing is he thinks Mayweather is the best there is out there right now. :hey

I guess someone forgot to tell Miguel Cotto that making 145 (1 pound less than his weigh-in against Clottey) was supposed to be a problem. :patsch

There are TONS of differences that can exist between people of roughly the same size. Things like width of the shoulders or hips, bone density, muscular density, even dermal thickness all effect weight and are all largely genetic. Arthur Abraham is barely taller than Clottey, but he'd KILL himself if he tried to make 147. He was struggling to make 160. If you have a heavy frame, or dense muscles, you simply can't cut weight beyond a certain point without literally sending your body into muscle devouring starvation mode, which isn't the best thing to do right before a fight.

This isn't an excuse, because Clottey chooses to fight at 147, so it's on him to make sure he's able to do it without crippling his ability to fight, but don't underestimate how hard it likely is for him to get down to that limit. Cotto is two to three inches shorter and he'd have been hard pressed to get much below 145.

cotto is not 2 to 3 inches shorter, there's 1 inch difference max.

i simply dont believe clottey has a problem of making 147 with his dimensions if he trains proper and eat proper. if he genuinely does, then he needs to get rid of his trainer and nutritionist because they aint doing it right for him.

look how small clottey's hands n wrist n hips are, that tells u he does not have big bones either.
