Dan Rafael's notebook just stated that Michael "The Great" turned down Ali Funeka as a replacement for Robert Guerrero. Man, that fight would have been awesome. I like both fighters, but real talk I see Funeka KHTFO before the start of the 9th. I see why he turned it down, shocked that he did tho'. I thought he was ALL warrior lol!
It probablly works out better for Katsidis anyone quite honestly. Funeka is high risk low reward and now that JMM turned down the Khan fight he likely returns to 135 and I know his options are a Juan Diaz rematch or Katsidis. Katsidis could get more money I guess. ***** move though but I perfer it want Funeka to get a fair shake vs Guzman this time.
Funeka would have given him a spanking, Katsidis is far too open, and Funeka is massive for the weight and can bang, just look at the 4th round ko of Zaheer Rahim.

Katsidis is much better off looking to face Diaz or JMM instead of Funeka. Funeka would carve Katsidis up and Katsidis wouldn't get paid the same as he would fighting Diaz or JMM. Guzman should do better this time with Funeka then he did the first but Funeka should be the favorite and hopefully this time he doesn't get robbed on the cards.
Funeka would tear Kats to shreds and wouldn't generate as much as JMM or Diaz. High risk low reward. I'd like to see funeka get another go at snoozeman
A little compact guy like Katsidis doesn't need an opponent like Funeka. I can understand the position of his Team. A fighter like Katsidis needs an EVEN fighting ground. Excessive advantages in height and reach, dimensional advantages, don't impress me as a boxing fan. I don't feel sorry for guys like Paul Williams, Celestino Cabballero, or Ali Funeka, and I don't give them any special consideration. I don't waste half my life obsessing over the beauty and artistry of boxing technique to see my matches turned on their axis because somebody is a foot taller than someone else. **** em. My preference.
