Oh Pac is huge no doubt! But I am amazed by how much PBF gets around! All these appearances will do so well for the fight. Which is what we want, exposure for boxing!
I think 1.8 mil is a bit of a stretch (Mosley has never proven to be a BIG PPV guy)...but it'll definitely swamp out Pac vs Clottey. I'd say Pac vs Clottey does about 500K to 650K and then Floyd vs Mosley does in the 1.2 to 1.5 mil range.
Oh, and my estimates for Pac-Clottey since their isn't a 24/7, Clottey isn't that big of a draw, and Antonio Margarito apparently won't be fighting on the Undercard. I'm picking around 750,000 PPV Buys, 1 Million if they put out a high amount of commercials.
Mosely has to promote himself a little more get the West coasters believing he can win! If he can appeal to people and get them believing he can be the first person to beat(or better still K.O PBF) more people might tune in! It would be great to have record PPV. Win or lose at least Shane should be able to get some better deals!
Why do people care about PPV numbers? I care about good fights. I could give a **** less about PPV numbers. If Vazquez Marquez III did .02 million buys I wouldn't come in here and talk ****.
He really doesn't have the personality to rally people. The people he's going to get are the ones who are already rooting for him out of spite for Floyd. De La Hoya should probably be sticking his nose in there more often.
I care about PPV numbers as it is related to how well the sport is doing . I want boxing to be successful again so we get the very best fights and the most number of fights per year! I wouldnt talk **** about Vasquez vs Marquez as it was a great fight but I wish more people saw it so they could follow the sport!
PPV numbers are a very deadly slope. On one hand, it's a clear indicator in how popular boxings top stars are. The higher the number, the better the sport is doing with the casual fans. The lower the number, the more there is to worry about. At the same time, the higher the number...the closer we are to the flood of PPVs we got about 3 years ago.
Yea if ODH said a few times Mosely was going to ruin PBF people would start to believe the hype and probably pay a little more attention! 2010 could be a hell of a year for boxing, imagine these do great and then we have the winners face off and they do great numbers too! :good
Pac does his talking in the ring. He doesn't need to sell himself for people to want to see this living legend fight. His entertaining fights and GOAT like accomplishments speak for themselves. ****, in his last fight he sold more than a comebacking Mayweather vs Marquez, which was promoted to no end. They even cancelled the fight to promote it some more. Mayweather has since resorted to calling Pac a drug cheat, trying to halt his superstardom and box office appeal, he's that intimidated by it.
