I respectfully completely disagree with you on this one.
Too me, and I have studied both fighters as much as anyone, it is the opposite of what you say and Pavlik's defensive holes and lack of good movement would be a perfect candidate for Abraham to KFTO at any moment. Those straight right hands from Pavlik are not going to hurt AA enough to stop him from throwing a bomb of a left hook to Pavlik's wide open cheek. End of fight.

And by the looks of the poll, that's how the board sees it.

But Pav will always have two stalwart fans through thick and thin.

AA can't make 160 so MW is pointless. At 168, he KOs Pavlik.

I am in complete agreement. :good

  7. Abe. Pavlik looked pretty average against Espino. I can't wait 'til Martinez clinics Pavlik. Gonna be fun to watch.

Sounds like you figured him out.

Now all you gotta do is find someone smart enough to heed you and execute your gameplan.

I'm pretty sure no one's had similar perspicacity before, or AA woulda had his ass kicked a fair number of times by now.

    ****in' brilliant !

And to think no one else came up with this before.

You're a true student of the game, my man.

    Second only to Boo.

Now that your insights have been leaked, I don't expect Arthur will be winning any more fights.

Is there anyone in boxing right now who has as much sudden power as AA? This guy is built like a tank and it's obvious his move to 168 has made him stronger. What makes him so good is his hand speed. He doesn't have slow hands. When he starts letting his combinations go, they come pretty fast. And you add in his granite chin (so far) and heart (Miranda 1). It's like he can almost decide when he takes out an opponent. He surveys and evaluates his opponents the first few rounds. But once he steps on the gas, it seems like his opponents can't do much to stop him.

I think the AA at 168 is a noticeably better fighter than at 160.

Care to show me where you got that second "quote from"? I don't remember saying that nor does it sound like something I would have said.

Don't just stand there and give him counter opportunities.

In the one fight we have seen him at so far, well two if you count Miranda. I still think I need to see more of him at 168 before I'm convinced. Taylor is not a puncher and AA has had a different style against punchers.

    Quote marker was wrongly placed.

The first sentence of the second Hermit extract was actually the last cuchulain sentence of the first cuchulain response.

    It's been fixed.

My opinion hasn't really changed in the past 3 years. I always felt that Pavlik would be in serious trouble vs. someone who'd either take away (Hopkins) or simply block (Abraham) his jab, the punch that sets up his money right hand. With that said, AA would have his own problems if Kelly's able to see the 10th, and he might lose his unbeaten record vs. Dirrell to change the balance of these polls, Abraham is not unbeatable. I picked Hopkins to beat Kelly by clear UD back then, though I never expected such a schooling, but to his credit, Pavlik wasn't 100%. Nevertheless, he gets hit too much even in control with the jab, but at MW he could overcome tough moments even vs. an elite fighter such as Taylor. His mental strength and heart of a champion should not be overlooked, it helped him get back on track in the 1st JT fight. Though many had Jermain winning the rematch based on clean effective punching, Pavlik was still able to be consistent and busy enough to walk away with the decision, so to beat him, you have to overcome size, length, strength, consistency and a zillion punches. Not an easy thing to do.

Abraham is quite the opposite: throws a lot less but with deadly precision and gets hit by few punches. He clearly has the one-punch power advantage, also the better overall skills, reflexes and timing, but a lot worse stamnia which could be a factor late. Kelly certainly isn't the favorite here, he's getting hit by way too much power shots (60% McKart, 65% Taylor I, 46% Taylor II, 50% Hopkins), and though he always came back, he was in trouble too many times to believe he could survive a scare vs. a deadly KO artist such as King Arthur. KP simply can't allow to get hit by Abraham's short right, but I can't see him blocking that, defensively much better opponents rarely see it coming between the wide bombs. Also, once the jab is blocked, Kelly'd have to throw the lead right which is a shot I see Abraham countering many times, so the best thing KP could do is throw a lot to keep the fight at long range and somehow get to the later rounds without serious punishment where his stamina advantage could allow him to steel the show on points. But can he keep the distance vs. such a physical force? Abraham cuts down the ring very effectively and I don't see him losing too many early rounds, if there are openings, Abraham is going for them. So at 164 let's say, I see Abraham breaking down Pavlik and stopping him around the 9th, and even a loss to Dirrell wouldn't change much, Andre is a completely different than Kelly. Now what would probably make me reconsider my pick is a Pavlik victory over Lucian Bute, the classy SMW champ. That'd be a huge statement from KP, though the way I see it, it's loss no2 for the Youngstown hero.

AA is fighting top SMW's some of whom could rank in the p4p top10/20.

In the meanwhile, Pavlik hasn't fought anyone since grandpa Hopkins embarrassed him.
