Cotto is considering adding somebody to his corner

According to Primera Hora. The P'rican newspaper said he is contemplating adding somebody else to his corner though his uncle is not being considered. Also said nobody is going to let go as well (Santiago is staying). He is already preparing to go up in weight to fight Yuri F. and said there should be official news within two weeks.

I actually felt bad for Santiago as well as Cotto. Because that guy's watching a friend get squashed and he has absolutely no idea how to help. He was just so far past his depth. I don't think he really realized just how far past his depth he could get.

 

He should get Figuerora in his corner and show him some Gato moves while he does his thang thang.

Cotto was doing well while he was boxing as opposed to brawling with him.

Then there is "We are here for you." As if they are the one receiving the punishment.

 

Forget about help between rounds. Cotto needs help in the gym if he wants to win fight. He does need somebody. But most important, he needs to stop being the boss and start being the boxer. A good trainer will not help him if he doesn't listen. Can't do everything Miguel Cotto's way.

It shouldn't even be a question that he should have gotten a world class trainer years ago.

 

His corner can't win him fights, his issue isn't advice in the corner but improvements in his fighting style in the ring. He his self admitted they might add a few minor improvements here and there but anything major is out of the question. You would think if fans all over knew his main weakness would be kneeling down with his head up against Margarito's obvious uppercuts his corner would at least prepare him for it but they didn't. You could find casual fans who knew that this could be his downfall yet his corner didn't seem to bother about it. Some improvements in his defense is needed, his boxing ability is good the way it is, improvements will be hard to add but defense can be added and should be.
