Anybody here who says they do not live for themselves and their family/loved ones I say is full of ****\lying and being a hypocrite. It may not be PC, but what Mayweather said is very honest.

Some of you need to get off your high horse.

If you live for your fans and make decisions in your life based on what other people think, who do not even know you or care about you, you are an idiot.

For himself, same thing. You think he does not care about his family? I do not think that is in question.

People need to get off their high horses. Any public figure who makes decisions based on what fans think is an idiot.

Anybody who makes decisions based on other people, who do not know you or care about you, is an idiot.

A lot of hypocrites in this thread who are lying to themselves.

Come on I dislike Floyds personality as much as anyone but few if any fighters live for their fans. Most boxers enjoy the adulation but it isn't the be all and end all when it comes to being a world class boxer.

No it's different, and it's not implyed.
I live for my family first, anyone who says different doesn't love their partner and kids as much as I. I would never make the statement PBF made.

I base my disliking of Floyd on his whole personality not just these quotes.

    :good

Spoken like a real boxing fan.

No one says you have to like the guy, his antics, his personality, or his fighting style. But to criticize a man who risks his life and health every time he steps into the ring because he says he has to look out for himself is just plain hypocritical.

He is saying what every other boxer is thinking. Period.

Oh please... Mayweather does not care about his family now? Come on man, let go of the hate. You act like Mayweather thought the comment all the way through. The guy is not the most eloquent of speakers.

I do not care for his personality either, but the fact is, his comments are honest. Would you rather him feed you some scripted lies like Pacquiao does with his whole, "I fight for my fans and my country" comments? Sorry, but I put a premium on honesty over somebody lying and saying what you want to hear.

You show me a person who lives for other people, and I'll show you a tormented soul. You can't please everybody.

As I said, dislike all you want: there is nothing wrong with what he said. It is an honest comment, although not politically correct.

Hate? Again with that bloody word:-(

I don't 'hate' the guy, in the ring he's ****ing amazing, outside of it though as I said earlier he's repulsive.

Love him as a boxer hate his personality, I've already stated this in this very thread.

You're tormented soul comment:huh Do you have a wife/gf and kids?

I should have been a little more clear: when I say "lives for other people," I am referring to other "random" people. Not your family and loved ones.

Fans are "random people." You should not worry about what "random people" think you should do and you can't please everybody.

Like I said, I do not like Mayweather's personality either but I see nothing wrong with the comments he made.

Let me sum up Mayweather with one of his own quotes.

"I think I'm the best fighter ever. I respect Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson. But as of now, I feel I'm the best. "

Please don't make me post photos, provide every stupid egotistical quote, you know they're out there.

There's ego and there's arrogance, this quote is as arrogant as they come. The man knows boxing, he knows exactly what Ali and SRR achieved, yet he's placing himself on a plinth above arguably the two GOAT.

As for Pac, I'm not sold on his clean cut image, but he's more humble than Floyd but again WHY BRING UP PAC???
Every time I enter a discussion about Mayweather someone ALWAYS bring the little guy up, it's getting tiresome:-(
