    An underated, underexposed performance from Micheal Watson. As the immortal Harry Carpenter puts it, "he's putting his punches together well, Watson...he's putting them together."

    Watson came along at the wrong time, perhaps. Were he a "British prospect" now, he'd be the best of them and they'd all be screaming for him. As it was, he was always going to be overshadowed by those other two.

    He was horrible at MW, he looked like death warmed up at his later weigh ins. Eubank found his strength literally unbelievable at168, as we know.

    it was a big win and because of how easily watson handled a much avoided don lee i knew he would do well

    Incredibly, Watson was only 22 years old here (and a late replacement).

    Yeah, hard to imagine the hysterics a similar win would induce if a prospect turned it in today.

    Watson was absolute fantastic, and still shockingly overlooked today.

    Nice to see you on here McGrain, so I can stalk you some more :lol: :good

    Yeah, I think Watson is sadly overlooked. I hate seeing threads like "Nigel Benn and Chris Eunank verus Kelly Pavlik". Watson was better than Benn in my opinion, and although it's controversial, I think he was better than Eubank, too, best for best.

    :goodwatson was a really smooth boxer and brilliant to watch.i thought he would dismantle benn exactly the way he did.

    Cheers for posting McGrain, hadn't seen that before.....that was a lovely performance to watch :good Saw Sibson-Lee a year or two ago (love that fight!) so it was apparent how dangerous a fighter Don could be...and for a 16-0 prospect to dismantle Lee with such ease is pretty amazing...Once he got his straight right going he couldn't miss...

    Watsons style is just great to watch....everything seems to be with such ease when he was at his best......

    Watson-Graham would have been a beautiful fight to watch :good

    Dont know very much about Don Lee....was he highly regarded and avoided? Strange he didnt get a shot after beating Sibson

    EDIT: He wasn't 16-0 he was 14-1 :patsch Dunno where I got that from :huh

    Dave Parris was the ref!!! :lol:

    Brilliant performance from Watson, I'd only seen his fight with Benn until now. Can't believe he was only 16-0 and 22 years old when this fight took place, he oozed class. Those right hands were a thing of beauty.

    The best boxing performance I've seen was his for 11 rounds ish against Eubank in their second fight. ( I haven't seen it since that night, so don't know if it still is, and I don't really want to watch it again)

    It seemed like after the 1st fight he was going to leave nobody in any doubt what so ever as to who the winner was. It should have been a landslide.............................

    Great fighter.

    For some reason I've never watched the first fight .

    As for the second fight, I couldn't bring myself to watch it knowing what happened. Same with Benn-McClellan. However I have both Benn-Watson fights downloading now.

    First fight is already on Youtube and I put the second one up....its a big part of British boxing history and although its a tragedy what happened I think its a must-see....

    You haven't seen Benn-McClennan? :yikes
