No, it's not. And the linear championship is not one of your belts. It's THE championship. Then it was DM, nowadays it's Erdei. If you want to be champ take it from him. There is no other way getting it, and surely not by getting awarded with a bel by some magazine. :bart

Your missing the point. Roy Jones was the best fighter in the divison and universally recognozed as the champ.

How can you be he best fighter when you never fought the best? How can you be the champ when you don't bea the champ?

    Right. Not. At. All.

I agree with this, but really the way DM's career played out a lot of the luster was lost, just as now the Margarito fight has been scrapped or downplayed from the Mayweather ducking list now that he is fighting Mosley.
Why didnt DM want to go to the US?? He could have had his biggest fight and had a chance to win all three titles??? Jones cleaned them up the hard way, he certainly earned his piece.

He beat two, and won one vacant, but I agree, that doesnt necessarily establish that Roy should have gone to DM, who never defended any of the titles.

Like LeftHook said, he cleaned out that division with the exception of DM. All Dm did was beat Virgil Hill who was then KO'd by a man named Roy Jones Jr. Then DM continued to feast off Jones leftovers.

Floyd Mayweather managed to come into the ww division and become universally recognized number 1 in the division because he beat the "champion" Baldomir, whilst avoiding Mosley, Williams, Cotto and Margarito.

Jones cleaned out a division save for one stay at home Euro champ in an era where there is more than one title and many fighters don't fight everyone in the top 10 of their weight class. It was not a lhw reign to match the great ones of the past, not even close, but he more than proved himself the best in that class.

He was the p4p#1. It should have been Michalczewski busting a gut to fight him, not the other way around.
