Within the past 24 hours several websites reported that Winky Wright is leaving Golden Boy, and moving to Top Rank.

It was foolish for Winky to fight Williams immediately after a 21 month lay off. He should have had a good tune up before he tackled a top guy.

Now it sounds like Arum has a very sensible plan to get Winky back in the mix. He needs to win two fights. The first one will be a main event on Top Rank Live. The second one will be on the undercard of Cotto/Foreman. If Winky wins those fights, he'll get a shot at KP by the end of the year.

I'll be pulling hard for Winky to win, and look good doing it. I have no idea if he can get back to top form, but Pavlik/Wright is a fight I've wanted to see for years.

Its kinda hard to have that fight when paul is in protective custody. His own mother cant find him.

Winky is beyond finished. I'd much rather see Pavlik move up than fight him, if KP/PW can't be made.

Nope. Winky is diffficult to look good against, and is hardly a jackpot draw. Pavlik wins well, he just fed off PW's left-overs. He looks remotely troubled in winning or loses, he gets crucified.

I think he means the "another high risk" part. Since the two Taylor fights, Pavlik has taken exactly one high risk fight, and he lost. I wouldn't call Gary Lockett or Espino high risk. Winky certainly is you're right.

Oh right. Well, I was referring to the possible fights out there. Martinez - a difficult fight, which he'll get **** all credit for winning. Bute - a fight which he'll probably lose. Only real option is to start clearing out 160. Forget big money.

160 is not a great division, and those defences were mandatories. There are some good prospects, but in terms of top contenders there aren't many. Guys like Sylvester, Gevor, David Lopez would be easy fights for Pavlik. Rubio is still a legit top 10 MW despite Pavlik beating him easily. Aside from Sturm (who is walking round as a heavyweight right now) it is difficult for him to get good opponents PW aside. Pav hasn't looked great north of 160, so moving up in weight won't do much good. Assuming he gets past Martinez and looks better than Williams did (which is going to be very difficult), Williams is his only option.

I hate to admit it on a Booradley thread but I see Pavlik winning a fairly close UD 115-113
