He could have fought the fight which allready was scheduled and the fighter already came to America for and not pull out. And no, I don't mean DM but Rocchigiani.
No, but my point is that, according to your standards, we should have picked Kessler over Ward; and, indeed, in any match-up between an inexperienced and experienced fighter, we should favour the experienced one, regardless of any stylistic insights or anything we've noticed either of them do in the ring that might contribute to the outcome. That's plainly absurd.
**** Ray Robinson for not fighting Burley, the filthy ducking ****. He never proved he was the best man out there. Guess his reign goes to rat**** then...
Other than Roy he actually bea plenty of champs - champs not beltholders - and atgs. When someone like Robinson ducks a fellow atg it's excusable - also I would have loved to see ha fight - but when you have a resume like Jones it is not.
1. Yes already have - Jones, McCallum, Griffin. Maske achieved near nothing, his best win was a Barkley who just got his ass kicked by Toney 2. You really want to define the division rankings in the division on future fights and how each opponent? You must think Jones was no1 at the time and not Hill/Maske :yep See how your own logic backfires Your a notorious Jones hater and all your posts are skewed in that direction, I'm clearly an unashamed fan and I dont see the point in continuing this as its pretty fruitless.
Nunn was Jones mando, not Rocchigiani, if Jones avoided anyone it was the tricky Nunn and not the predictable fighter who edged him in Rock. Rochigiani never tried to make a fight with Jones, and Jones didnt need him as he still had the WBC, that he never lost in the ring. WBC acted inappropriately and jumped the gun sanctioning Roch-Nunn. But Jones is pretty blameless in it all
Burley was the second best fighter In Robinsons era after Robinson. The best opponents in Jones era was Toney and Hopkins, not Dariusz. Jones fought about 20champs in his time, 5 of those were linear. Robinson also didnt fight Cocoa Kid, Holman Williams, Booker, Lloyd Marshall, Archie Moore, Booker. All some of the very best of his era. Marshall beat Lamotta at the same time Robinson was but Ray fought the loser numerous times after instead of Marshall. Imagine if Floyd did that today
Roy became lineal/ring champ when he beat Tarver in the first fight, both were clearly 1 and 2 at 175 and there was no current lineal/ring champ
Nunn-Rocchigiani was for the WBC lhw title. Rocchigiani won and thus was the champ. What the WBC did was a disgrace for the sport and as bad as the Ottke-Reid debacle. By your logic Jones should have fought the man Rocchigiani beat but not Rocchigiani himself. Interesting logic. :think And actually the WBC made Rocchigiani the mandatory of Jones. Jones had to make the fight inside of two weeks or vacate his title and pay a fee to Rocchigiani. He did nothing of this, the WBC did not strip him. Rocchigiani went before the court and won. Fact.
You can't become lineal champ when the lineal champ, Erdei, is still around. Everybody but you acknowledges this.
Erdei/Dariusz/Hill all never lineal :deal Just a myth made up by Euro trash who couldnt get a real champ
The Hopkins Jones fought was no as good as the DM he should have fought. Toney was a great win ... at smw but not the best of the era by quite a bit. Floyd never fought anyone of a similar calibre you mentioned here. And Robinson fought and beat many many HoF and atgs like Basilio, Fullmer, Giardello, Graziano, LaMotta, Gavilan, Angott, Armstrong and some more. Jones fought who? A inexperienced Hopkins, a weight drained Toney, an ancient and far above his best weight McCallum and past-it Joe C. not at his best weight. Right put's him definitly in the Top10 p4p.
